Rubio Rips Jay-Z a New Asshole

Looks like Jay Z bought the t-shirt but didn't read the book. Is he self-fulfilling Che's statements or just a political and historical dumbass?

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio has weighed in on Jay-Z's controversial trip to Cuba, saying the rapper-turned-mogul and fledgling sports agent needs to educate himself about the island's oppressive regime.

"First of all, I think Jay-Z needs to get informed," Rubio said on ?This Week with George Stephanopoulos" on Sunday. "One of his heroes is Che Guevara. Che Guevara was a racist. Che Guevara was a racist that wrote extensively about the superiority of white Europeans over people of African descent, so he should inform himself on the guy that he?s propping up."

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/m...-politics.html

I read once when Che walked out on his kids he dressed in disguise to see if they would recognize him. He wanted to be anonymous. Thought that was a good test.

Growing up in Florida and having Cuban girlfriends and friends I heard some pretty horrible stories through their parents. Some revolution.

it's a strange thing that che has been elevated to cult status simply because his mug is on a t-shirt.

dude was a murderer.

I remember when the image first appeared. It was some kind of statement against, "the man." It seems it was kerosene fighting gasoline in retrospect. I guess marketers thought he gave great "face." Probably the same idiots who "invented" free porn.

I dont get Cuba is bad because they are communist but china is communist and treats their people worse but they are ok.

Shotsie 04-14-2013 12:20 PM

Didn't Beyonce do private concerts for Gaddafi's birthday parties or something? The two of them are soulless scumbags.

directfiesta 04-14-2013 12:25 PM

Cuba is demonized by the USA .. and it is so funny ...

Cuba doesn't give us cheap flat screen TVs and Iphones. The only thing Cuba ever gave us is those shitty ham sandwiches with pickles on them. And cigars.

Then theres the very minor issue of nuclear missiles a few years back!

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 04-14-2013 01:03 PM

Marco Rubio is a joke himself. He has lied about his parents immigration to the US to escape Castro and communism (even though they left years before Castro came to power), and anything else to garner support of the Tea Party (his real base). :2 cents:

Another Castro collaborator:

http://media.npr.org/programs/mornin...639-s6-c10.jpg

Establishing better relations with Cuba would probably go a lot further towards promoting US style democracy in Cuba than the current stand-off for the past half-century which has accomplished little.

What does Jay-Z have to say about their trip:

Jay-Z responds to his critics with the "Open Letter" video:

Quote:

[Intro]
Ladies and gentlemen
Goddamnit
Let this shit knock

[Verse 1]
I done turned Havana to Atlanta
Guayabera shirts and bandanas
Every time you think they got me I switch the plan up
Bulletproof this, radio scanners
Ballin' 'til they ban us

You gettin' too much bread, they try to jam you
Boy from the hood but got White House clearance
Sorry y'all, I don't agree with y'all appearance
Politicians never did shit for me
Except lie to me, distort history

Wanna give me jail time and a fine
Fine, let me commit a real crime
I might buy a kilo for Chief Keef
Out of spite, I just might flood these streets
Hear the freedom in my speech

Got an onion from Universal, read it and weep
Would've brought the Nets to Brooklyn for free
Except I made millions off it, you fuckin' dweeb
I still own the building, I'm still keeping my seat
Y'all buy that bullshit, you'd better keep y'all receipt

Obama said "chill, you gonna get me impeached"
But you don't need this shit anyway
Chill with me on the beach

[Hook - Swizz Beatz]
Y'all gon' learn today

[Verse 2]
Ya'll almost want to start a revolution
You know whenever I'm threatened, I start shooting (BANG!)
Catch a body, head to Houston
I'm in Cuba, I love Cubans

This communist talk is so confusing
When it's from China, the very mic that I'm using
Idiot wind, the Bob Dylan of rap music
You're an idiot, baby, you should become a student

Oh, you gonna learn today
Where the fuck have you been
The world's under new management
The new role model, fuck this Zoolander shit
:stoned

dyna mo 04-14-2013 01:31 PM

i look forward to lounging on a beautiful cuban beach one day!

i never get to vaca out that way, other than 1 time in bvi for 2 weeks-ish, which was super fun. we've end up going to hawaii more often, being on the west coast.

Same thing with Mao.

So much so there are pictures of the guy all over the Chinese/Mexican restaurant "China Poblano" in the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. I just ate there 30 mins ago.

Unreal

I own one of the original prints of that image (Guerrillero Heroico) autographed by the photographer Alberto Korda.

There are two things I own that I have yet to bring to Asia. That photograph, and a 1972 Fender Jazz bass.

Eh, it's all relative. You could say there's a genocidal maniac on the face of the twenty-dollar bill. Which is worse?

what's the backstory on that? any info on how the photo evolved into the pop icon merchandising thing?

There is a Wiki on the image that tells the entire story. The top image on the right is what the full frame looks like, which is what I have. It was later cropped down to just show Che.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guerrillero_Heroico

If I still lived in the USA I would be collecting a lot more art and iconic photos from Cuba. I'm fascinated with it. It's just not practical now that I live in Asia. I thought maybe I could replace Cuba with Myanmar (Burma) but it just doesn't resonate with me like Cuba does. I was hooked on Cuba the first time I went there and can't seem to shake it. Looking forward to going back.

oh wow, that is one impressive photo. i think i get it now, it's the photograph, not the person in it that is special. the t-shirt and all the merchandising hides that i guess.

1 thing i would get a kick out of while visiting there would be all the old american cars that i understand they have there and take really good care of. not sure if that's still the case.

I'll take some pics when I go there in August, I have my flight to Havana already booked ;)

Antique U.S. cars are Cuba?s new vehicles for change
It's now possible to operate private taxis in socialist Cuba. The result: an explosion of old U.S. cars.

Love him or hate him moore's sicko revealed an amazing Cuba. It would be great if Cuba could rise without the american biz invasion.

Thats all fine and I agree with you. However, I am completely against the US form of democracy. Its just vulture capitalism in a cheap suit.

They were already everywhere there, now they are just legal taxis. Before, if we wanted a bootleg taxi, we would have to jump in the back and lay down in the back seat so no one could see is.

I hear Starbucks and McDonalds both already have their ocean front locations (along the Malecón in Havana) reserved for when they can legally get up there. :Oh crap

Cuban mechanics are incredible. You can open up hoods and see filters made with a Mason jar and a garden hose, attached all sorts of crazy ways. They have been cut off from the world so they can't get parts to many things they need so they Jerry rig EVERYTHING. Water heaters in the house, car engines, you name it. They had to make do and they did.

i think if i approach it like riding one of those rides at the carnival set-up for the weekend in the local parking lot, then i think i could hop in! :1orglaugh
i had known they were very resourceful in maintaining the cars, the article just made it sound like any and every car up on bricks could be decommissioned and made into a taxi. maybe i over-read it but it all adds to sounding like a blast anyway! crazy trip i bet.
