Do You Email Members That Don't Renew?

I'm seeing a drop in renewals and wondering: Have you, do you, or don't you bother to email members that don't renew?

If so, do you ask why they didn't renew and invite them to email you back, or do you have any sort of anonymous poll page online to send them to where they can check off some items and a comment box?

Do you offer a discount to come back to the site? If so .... Is this proving profitable? And is that set up with a link to a special signup page that gives them access for whatever offer you made to them?

If you did email ex-members at one time, then stopped, why did you stop?

Would appreciate any other feedback on membership retention that any of you care to share.

Jay - SMASH 10-28-2013 10:34 PM

You email them with a discount deal.. $7.95/month type of stuff. Then hit them later on with upsells. Not rocket science really.

freecartoonporn 10-28-2013 11:15 PM

yes spam them with cam, dating offers , then sell the list.

FlowerKid 10-28-2013 11:16 PM

Email them, they are silly motherfuckers if they don't renew and then probably they do.

ls101 10-28-2013 11:26 PM

Email them before the day of renewal and offer them a discount for a renewal! :)

Go read my posts on Email Marketing in the Education section.

there are three threads in total there about it

A lot of people do this with YNOT Mail. Send out discounted offers to those who didn't renew, and send out other offers to current members. These are golden members, confirmed porn buyers, so treat them like gold.

Barry-xlovecam 10-29-2013 09:33 AM

Spot survey a sample group and find out WHY they didn't renew?

If you have a nats program I can help you out with this very easily ;)

_Richard_ 10-29-2013 10:07 AM

have you checked your process for the MA? curious you'd be having a drop now

Struggle4Bucks 10-29-2013 10:13 AM

post removed due to not being sure it would be interpreted correctly as humor by -80 iq members of the board with the risk of going viral the wrong way....

Not following the "checked your process" part of your reply ... do you mean things like showing upcoming updates in the Members Area?

I'd like to know if that sort of survey has been done, and if the responses were helpful in developing a site that would have a higher retention % ... personally ...I'd think that would go along with the discount type emails.

Then why isn't NATS sending out AUTO emails then???

It can even Email people that didn't complete the signup process with "special" offers...

Just store the users in a separate table and configure a server side email.

Always email past members that are expired.
Always collect username and emails in step one of join.
Email the ones that don't pay. Right after, in a few days, once a month or less often.
Never group your active paying with expired. Always separate the two.

You have a very valid point about not combining current with expired, and I will be passing along this info to the guy setting up Nats. Thanks! :thumbsup

If they're long standing clients and/or we're in the middle of an important phase in their consult, then yes.

That is an awesome tutorial DamianJ ... thanks for directing me to it!

Penny24Seven 10-30-2013 03:01 PM

Out of every 100 paid members that join and leave I get 35% to 40% to join again within a year. There is a 7 step plan I have set up and improved every year I have done it. Maybe we can workout a deal.

Don't drop your pants on price until email #3.

Many people will come back at full price. I'd estimate 10-15%.

Autoresponders using dynamic content based on intelligence about what the punter likes gets amazing results. Set it up, and let it run.

Obviously, if you have time, tweak the fuck out of it and split test, etc. But at a basic level:

1 - someone cancels
2- cancels +3 days
3 - cancels +7 days
4 +14 days
5 + 31 days
6 try an affiliate offer
7 try dating
8 try cams
9 try non porn

They are credit card holding people prepared to pay for porn. They are fucking gold.

I will let a member of the team know about your offer.

On a side note -- is that a long hair doxie?? I have a 2yo chocolate male, Hunter, who is the light of my life. He picked me out when I went to look over the litter, and has been attached to my ankle ever since!

American Psycho 10-30-2013 04:37 PM

igood biz topic yes I definitely agree you need to email cancels but what about active members for big news live shows or things like that?

I'm trying to do some Live Shows and have been debating about notifying members possibly notify members that have joined the last week or so week or two.

my thoughts and from my statss a lot of members don't log in anymore so I'd hate to email them and have them cancel because they forgot about the membership or something
