A friend of mine got a DUI the other night...he pulled over in a parking lot to sleep because he was too drunk to drive, but since it was cold outside, he left his car running with the heat on...a cop woke him up and gave him a DUI. Fucking bullshit.

Um, "he pulled over because he was too drunk to drive". He was driving drunk. Busted. Tough shit.

Don't drink and drive. Yes, it's a stupid slogan but it makes sense. I have no sympathy for anyone who gets behind the wheel drunk.

Hmmm.. I didn't think they could do that unless they actually saw the car in motion with the drunk person at the wheel.

Note for future: if you are drunk and stop to sleep it off.. make sure it's in the parking lot of a place that serves alcohol.

He would have been ok if the keys weren't in the ignition...but the judge might drop it if he tells them it was cold outside.

He shouldn't. Unless your friend got wasted while the car was sitting still in the same parking lot.

I got busted for alcohol underage my sophomore year of college. Had to go to a 12 week VASAP class (alcohol education sponosored by the state). After that shit, I will never, ever, drink and drive

The car doesn't even have to be running, just have the keys in the ignition. Don't remember if that was specifically here (California) or when I was back in Massachusetts, but I believe it's pretty much the same anywhere across the states.

In Ontario you don't even have to have the keys in the ignition. If you have them anywhere inside the vehicle you are fucked.

Even if you throw them in the glove box... fucked.

If you have to sleep in your car drunk then hide your keys outside the vehicle somewhere.

Yes they can do it. My Dad got a DUI in our .. get this.. Driveway!

He was drinking beer, working on a buddies car in our driveway. Started it up just to test it or whatever, Cop pulled up behind him (I think he had been watching them drink) Soon as he started it, The cop had his lights on and flew into the bottom part of our driveway. Dad got a DUI.

I was only about 13 when this happend.

I saw a commercial this morning about this guy sleeping in the subway, and you see that the subway keeps going back and forth and it says the the guy had a little too many to drink, and he missed his stop..... 13 times.. but he home, alive... wich is kinda funy, you see the guy is really shitfaced

That ranks as one of the best "Cops Can Be Such Assholes" story I have ever heard.

depending where you live, if your on private property, the cops can't really do shit, i went up north yesterday and did some dirt biking, my friend has a huge land, and we drive with no plates or helmets, and the cops can't really do anything

kmanrox 04-20-2003 10:32 AM

where i live, $3 to the cop and he'll pretend he didnt see anything, murder costs a little more, like $200....
