Are you still using standard sponsor banners?
Personally I sometimes don't even bother anymore to download all banners when I sign up with a new program.
Specially the 'old-fashioned' horizontal banners of 468 pixels width; they were first designed in 1995 with old Apple II in mind, which had a display area of 470 pixels (if you took the scrollbar into account) - and who's still using them? On the other hand I find myself spending sometimes up to an hour trying to cut a logo form a particular site, or re-create it if I can find a similar matching font! Hence I would really like to see that sponsort supply clean header graphics and logos!!! |

Text links can do great. :)

regular old banners have worked fine for me... unobtrusive to those who don't care, and those who do click an awful lot... some even sign up :thumbsup

I just remember a few years back (late 1998) when I switched most ads to portrait size (140x200 or there abouts) my sales suddenly tripled - now it looks like no banner whatsoever pulls much interest anymore... |

I like to make my own odd-shaped banners.
I think surfers' eyes glaze over when they see a 468X60 |
Text is best but I use banners. Ideally my site is so full of ads there is no content to be found. I am not the hun but then I don't make bank like he does.

that is why it is so important to update your banner stock frequently and to mix up the sizes and formats. I know when I loko at sponsor's banners chances are if it is a standard 'traditional' banner I will opt for a text link instead. Give me a well designed and eye catching banner and I will use it.
