Personally I sometimes don't even bother anymore to download all banners when I sign up with a new program.

Specially the 'old-fashioned' horizontal banners of 468 pixels width; they were first designed in 1995 with old Apple II in mind, which had a display area of 470 pixels (if you took the scrollbar into account) - and who's still using them?

On the other hand I find myself spending sometimes up to an hour trying to cut a logo form a particular site, or re-create it if I can find a similar matching font! Hence I would really like to see that sponsort supply clean header graphics and logos!!!

regular old banners have worked fine for me... unobtrusive to those who don't care, and those who do click an awful lot... some even sign up

I just remember a few years back (late 1998) when I switched most ads to portrait size (140x200 or there abouts) my sales suddenly tripled - now it looks like no banner whatsoever pulls much interest anymore...

I like to make my own odd-shaped banners.

I think surfers' eyes glaze over when they see a 468X60

Text is best but I use banners. Ideally my site is so full of ads there is no content to be found. I am not the hun but then I don't make bank like he does.

that is why it is so important to update your banner stock frequently and to mix up the sizes and formats. I know when I loko at sponsor's banners chances are if it is a standard 'traditional' banner I will opt for a text link instead. Give me a well designed and eye catching banner and I will use it.
