stem cell research is a HUGE issue this coming election. how anyone can justify against it is beyond me. but again, being pre-bush is beyond me as well.

Stem cell research is being conducted in a few more progressive countries with substantial success.

The reason why not is simply because of the US govts desire to get in the face of every fucking thing, whether they have a clue about it or not - and also have this "perverse Christianity" attached to the "righteousness" of it. They are no better than any Islamic extremists spouting shit.

It has nothing to do with the operation of goverment - they are there to serve the people and handle overall economic, defense, welfare, education and infrastructure issues - and don't seem to be managing that too well.

It is sad that this and many other issues have become embroiled in a perverse political situation.

messing with nature is fucked up.. and more diseases are created... as new vaccines and science interferes with the longevity of the human being... last thing we need is an exponential jump in over population due to people living longer...

btw.. i'm for stem cell research.. but i do not want the government funding it.. i'm all for privitization.. just like health care.. I don't want the governement telling me which doctor I can see... and when I can see them.. and what is considered more serious...

Also they want the taxpayer to pay for the research that only rich old men will be able to afford.

don't worry people in the third world who have high birth rates will never be able to afford stem cell technology :)

And if they get rich enough to afford it they'll stop having kids, as birth rates tend to decline as a country gets wealthier, so I wouldn't worry about it :)

its really not too bad.. we were offered the option to freeze the embilical cord from our kid for stem cells if needed later in life...

I don't remember the exact amount.. but ya had to pay a yearly storage fee.. (privatized)...


I just hate to see people whine about the government making new laws.. then they go and whine b/c they won't make some new law that can totally be done by private funding...

Funny thing Nader, as you know I just moved out here to middle America.

I was reading up on on senate candidates, and one of them stated they were against abortion, yet for stem cell research.

This had me a bit confused since from what I know about stem cells, they are obtained from an aborted fetus, and the umbilicus.
