Who likes their laptops?

what do you have and why did you get it? What makes it better than other brands?

Any feedback would be very much appreciated :winkwink:

dell inspiron 9200 - sucks balls as a travel laptop, works well as a desktop replacement.

tony286 08-31-2005 03:40 PM

I have a gateway its cool for surfing ,email, dv rack but I wouldnt use it editing .

Sosa 08-31-2005 03:42 PM

I have a Sager which is similar to an Alienware. More of a desktop replacement. Only thing I don't like is the shorter battery life and the fans on the bottom. No way I can just sit it on my lap for more then 15-20 minutes.

Verbal 08-31-2005 03:42 PM

I'll need mine for some heavy-duty graphics work as well as a little video editing ... anybody have a recommendation? Something with good battery-life.

I have a Vaio.

http://images.tigerdirect.com/SKUima.../N122-4110.jpg

It has one of the nicest screens that I've ever seen on a laptop. However, it's big and heavy. Not the best option for traveling.

I'm thinking about getting an Avertec like this one
http://www.gizmodo.com/archives/imag...rtec_c3500.jpg for hauling back and forth between the office and when traveling.

Verbal 08-31-2005 03:45 PM

Anybody really like theirs? and actually use it while travelling?

Those Viaos with the XBlack screen are hot.

OK although my toshiba just went blue screen, I had logged ---zillions of hours and worked it to death, ---So I'd buy another one -17" screen 512 100gb

slapass 08-31-2005 03:51 PM

I have an emachine I bought reconditioned on overstock. It has logged about 100k air miles and still works. Not sure what you are looking for but they all work.

betsy 08-31-2005 03:53 PM

15" powerbook, and my bf has the 12" (which is actaully a great size for traveling and use on the plane since the seats are so close together now adays).

potter 08-31-2005 04:14 PM

I have a 12'' Powerbook. Nothing compares to Apple's products. I use mine for work when I'm traveling. It's light, fast, and extremely powerful.

P.S. All the high end graphic and video editing software is made for Macs!

Peaches 08-31-2005 04:16 PM

I have a Dell 8600 that I use as my day to day computer. I love it! :)

Hate the battery life on it though.

pornguy 08-31-2005 04:18 PM

I love mine. I have an HP. the battery sucks, and it is heavy, but I love it.

eamedia 08-31-2005 05:21 PM

toshiba sattelite p4 HT .... got it cause it hauls ass

Kyo 08-31-2005 05:44 PM

I have 3 IBM Thinkpads and 2 Apple Powerbooks. One of my employees has a Dell, and another has a Sony Vaio.

All of 'em rock, and I'd have no probs recommending any of 'em.

Donny 08-31-2005 05:46 PM

Powerbook here. I love it.
