Biz Thread: What stats are more important?

I'm going through a NATS config right now and am wondering what are more important to webmasters..

1st page unique
2nd page unique
Join hits?

would you rather have 1st and 2nd page shown with no join clicks? or 2nd page and join clicks? or 1st and join?

What stat is more important to you?

nekrom 03-19-2007 07:12 AM

Well for me, all stats other then unique 1st page, are pretty useless imo.

Anyone else?

ditto that shit... the rest just skew ur results unless you own the site... then u should be using that data to UP the conversion ratio.

If you are going to bundle two together I woud say 1st and join.
I mainly look at 1st uniques and our overall conversion ratios.

Income per unique (1st page) click ... though I don't think NATS has that option.

For me, that is really the only stat that matters and for 99% of programs, it's a manual calculation.

Hits / Uniques / Conversions

scottybuzz 03-19-2007 07:36 AM

i like joins, shows how well the site is made, to persuade the surfer to click that join page

Sharky 03-19-2007 07:37 AM

I too like 1st page unique, however it seems like most programs these days base their conversions off 2nd page.
Does anyone really care about the join clicks? Its valuable info to the paysite owner, but not really the webmaster. If the conversions are there, who cares how many clicks the join does or does not get?

But don't you also feel its a source of frustration? The more clicks to the join the better, I know. But does that stat really make a difference in whether you will promot a sponsor or not? Or will you promote a sponsor with that info over another if the conversiosn are the same?

The $ earned per signup and click

Because you want to see if your surfers are even making it to the join page. A webmaster may use this info to utilize a new tour or to make some changes to their promotion. Any stat is useful. : )

I like seeing first page uniques. But the most important is total at the end of the day :)

RawAlex 03-19-2007 08:46 AM

The more stats you put out the better. 1st page raw, 1st page unique, 2page unique, join page hits... these are all valid things to know, as they are clear indications of how the surfers are working their way through the tours.

Example, high 1st page but low second page often means your sales pitch sending the surfer isn't that good... or the tour itself isn't that good.

So the more you can make available, the better it is.

well if the join hits are really high and no/little sales are coming then the problem logically lies in the processer, rather than the tour

I remember I had a problem some time ago, where i was sending purely british traffic to a sponser and to save costs they put on this european biller that required loads of extra info and hoops to climb through in order for the european surfer to signup. I of course only realised this by seeing the low conversion rate of joins, and checked the site out.

but yes, thats why I love join hits, but I would say unique second page are much better than raw.

Wizzo 03-19-2007 02:09 PM
