Stupid Question regarding domain names
 

If a domain name is listed to expire on the 29th of Jan,

how come i cant register it

It has to go through redemption period before being completely dropped.

How long does that take ?

Checkout the drop cycle process image on there and read "Difference between expired and dropped".

Most domains go through 3 stages after they expire...

1. Registrar-Hold
2. RedemptionPerod
3. PendingDelete

Usually 45-90 day wait after it drops, unless it's a snapnames priority partner.

you can try and put in a backorder to try and grab it as soon as available.

And each register has different timelines on domain expiration! Your best bet is to backorder it, if you really want it. Best of Luck!
