you don't want a monkey as a pet. at one time i did and everybody told me horror stories - they are like having a child except they are 10 times as strong as a child and have bad tempers. I also have heard you can't toilet train them.

what kind of monkey? i wanted a chimpanzee. those other monkeys that look more like flying squirrels creep me out.

importing without being CITES certified isn't likely to happen, but unless your area has some specific bylaws regarding ownership of said species, there's not much holding you back from making a domestic purchase if you can find a seller. i'veseen marmoset monkeys for sale in bc before. my roomates almost bought one. something like $1200...
