I switched to NatNet last year and they're definitely my fave hosts by far! Amazing support. You should hit them up and see what they can do for you price wise. Sean is on ICQ - 395096877 xx

Sly 01-18-2010 09:38 AM

I highly recommend www.amerinoc.com

Last week I accidentally asked them to delete a user and all of its contents from the wrong server. Mike caught it and pointed out when I asked to make sure that's what I wanted, of course it wasn't, he saved me a load of frustration.

Competent techs with the ability to reason are worth every penny.

$150/month is a lot to pay for hosting...

rowan 01-18-2010 02:51 PM

You should post what you need, not what you're prepared to pay...

I need hosting for a small legal tube network. The site(s) will consist of videos from 3 to 10 minutes, licensed full length content will come later ...not sure on the duration of the movies, I'm guessing up to 30 minutes. TubeX is the back-end script.

I figured starting with a dedicated server now and as the sites grow, my network expands - I'll be ready.

I've gotten a lot of good responses so far and a few recommendations, keep them coming. I'm looking to decide by the end of the week.

That's basically it people.

Requirements for TubeX below:

Must Have
- Unix or Linux based server
- PHP 5.2.0+
- ionCube Loader
- PHP Extensions:
JSON, DOM, SimpleXML, MySQL, PCRE
- MySQL 4.1.0+

For Video Thumbnails & Conversion
- PHP safe_mode off
- PHP open_basedir off
- PHP shell_exec() available
- PHP CLI or CGI version available
- mencoder
- mplayer
- ffmpeg
- yamdi
- MP4Box

For Video Uploads
- PHP file_uploads on
- PHP upload_max_size at least 20MB
- PHP post_max_size at least 25MB

Optional (but highly recommended)
- PHP GD extension
- PHP cURL extension
- ImageMagick installed on server
- Access to cron on server

Control Panel Requirements
- Modern Web Browser
- Firefox 3+
- Internet Explorer 8+
- Safari 4+

Other Recommendations
- A VPS or dedicated server is recommended if you want to do video conversion

I know you would LOVE PacificRack.

Check out some of their plans.
http://www.pacificrack.com/dedicated.html

I've had one of their boxes for over a year and of the dozens of hosts I've used over the past decade, they are by far the BEST. My sites have NEVER been down other than for scheduled maintenance for which notice was given far in advance, but when these upgrades and maintenance was performed, the downtime was less than half an hour.

I've NEVER had a single problem or issue with this company and know I can count on them to keep me up and running. The support staff there is phenomenal.. always available, always quick to respond and they always get the job done. The billing department is always easy to reach as well during operating hours.. last thing I ever want to do when contacting a company is sitting on hold.. to date, this has never happened with PacificRack.. I always get a LIVE ENGLISH SPEAKING PERSON on the phone whenever I call, without any long delays or waits.. They're friendly and courteous professionals.

I can pay with my epassporte or paypal.

Alot of hosting providers may come into threads to convince you that they are the best, and yeah sure many of them are great companies, but I'm telling you as a customer that you will not regret going with PacificRack and it is my opinion that they are indeed the BEST CHOICE, and their pricing is very competitive.. I know some companies out there that charge over 4X the price of what I'm paying at PacificRack.. the deal I got is unfuckingbeatable. Hit up Alex at 423989984 to discuss your needs, or see if there's any specials not listed on the site, or give them a call, chat or email, etc.

When I started with them, they were very fast in getting me set up and running and migration from my old host to the box with them was flawless.

Anytime I need anything, such as help with an apache mod or anything else, they're always very helpful and they ALWAYS get it done with NO PROBLEMS.

I've generally had them setup anywhere from 2 to 24 hours depending on what OS I use and if it's custom hardware. One place took a week to setup the wrong OS, and then another day and a half to fix it. Ended up moving that box elsewhere because of that and other issues.

If it's been four days already I'd contact them and see what's up. It really shouldn't take longer than a day or two to get a box up IMHO.
