Fuck Dell... order the parts from Newegg, put it together yourself.
Nice Athlon 6400 with simple RAID, 1GB, decent sound/vid cards and 19" LCD -- sub $1500. You can trim $200 off this if you bargain shop the site. Takes about 4 hours to build the computer from parts (at least, that's how long it takes me with my marginal experience). Systems perform better than mass manufactured systems IMHO.

I just ordered my mom and dad one last Tuesday morning at 1:00 am. They shipped the damn thing later that same day, lol.
It was a Dimension desktop but it was a pretty good deal. No shipping charges and a $271 instant rebate, plus 20% off, I think. I upgraded the memory, got a dual DVD combo, added a floppy drive, got a 19" flat screen, added the speaker bar thing, and also got them one of those printer/copier/scanner/fax photo printer deals with an LCD screen on it, that my mom had been wanting. The whole thing was only $965.

Amazing Deal. You can get lucky with Dell, on the value front that's for sure.
