Building email subscriber list with Wordpress

Currently I'm using the Newsletter plugin from http://www.satollo.net/

And it works just fine... I have no problems with the functionality of the plugin. But I need it to be much more prominent, because right now it pretty much just blends into the right side column. There's nothing eye-catching about it. I've only gotten a few email subscribes since adding it about a week ago, and this progress clearly isn't going to cut it for the long-term.

I need something that's totally IN YO' FACE - KAPOW!

Anyone have any suggestions on how to customize it... putting it in a shadowbox that opens upon entry? I'm thinking something along the lines of the PopupDomination.com plugin... but a free solution would be preferable.

I know I also need to combine the request for an email with an offer... I'll do that. But I also think it needs to be a little more obnoxious than it currently is.

use the text/html feature

you can use the text/html feature to drag a flashing sign up here or something like that on top and under the app you are using.

So I figured out a solution that works pretty decent...

But here's a new problem. I'm having a REALLY tough time getting surfers to sign up for the newsletter. It's a popup in a shadowbox upon entry, and then it sits on my widget toolbar. And in my #1 post I have 6 screenshots for our latest exclusive video, with an email collection box in the middle that says:

Quote:
You'll get access to the video download link by joining our newsletter.
Anyway, the call to action seems pretty clear to me.

Should I just stop fucking around with the email stuff, and just show the video instead of trying to use the download as a call to action?
