Using a CMS (Wordpress, Joomla!, Drupal, etc) for an adult website
Has anyone made a successful porn site by using a CMS? Seems a bit easier to manage and direct traffic over to your domain. I could be wrong, but is this a good idea for someone new to begin making money in porn? Maybe throw in some galleries, live streams, and erotic chat. Getting them to feel compelled to buy an adult membership, or getting them referred by affiliate link to a sale- these are all parts of the strategy. I'm capable of getting a PHP framework like Yii and designing something, but designing within a CMS is something to consider.

Tons of people have made adult sites using CMS products. Wordpress seems to be the favorite and you should be able to get your hands on some great templates either here or elsewhere on the web. It is definitely one of the easier ways to get a site up and running quickly, and there are a lot of built in SEO best practices as well that you will not have to worry about.

I would say Wordpress should be your main focus. The other are really good but much harder to master. There are tons of plugins to make all kind of sites with wordpress.
If you would like we can help you out with setting up and adjusting your wordpress site if you choose to host with us. https://diploy.net/wordpress Hit me up on icq if you have any questions.

The thing with WordPress is that it has an extraordinary community backing the code its running. If want to scale, customize and code on WP, you can use this community's resource. Same thing with Joomla and Drupal.
Can't really say much beyond that. |

The possibilities are endless with Wordpress. You'd be shocked how many sites you visit daily that are built with it.

i started years ago with no idea of html, php and stuff. Wordpress was the solution to build sites by just clicking through the settings and get a site easy to handle and ready to make money.
i'm good in writing SEO posts, and thats what wp is made for....input input input and WP manages all the stuff, the ideal CMS! |

no serious paysite is built on Wordpress. in fact we get a few people a year that switch to our CMS from Wordpress and they can all tell you what a nightmare it is to run a paysite on Wordpress. its great for blogs, even maybe a tube, but if you want to run a real paysite and you want it to grow big, get a CMS that was built for the job. i can give you a list of reasons or refer you to guys like Bruce from www.Esinem.com who just switched his member's area over to PornCMS from Wordpress.
our CMS (www.porncms.com) is built specifically to manage a paysite and has everything you need other than content. it also starts at $29/month (including hosting). #

As long as you don't try to do too much with Wordpress, it's a great front end to feed traffic. I tried to build a complete membership site and it caused a lot of problems due to the inefficiency of running multiple plugins, especially YourMembers, a poorly supported and flaky plugin, which won't work with Zombaio and locks out expired members from rejoining). On top of that, it got very slow and started crashing when it got more than a few users viewing video. That said, if you are a real php and css geek, you might get away with it but then you'd be modding code every time you upgraded WP or plugins.
I am now moving all my member content into PornCMS and just having public content on WordPress. You can see it here: www.esinem.com Unfortunately, I still have to run YourMembers during the transition (still transferring content). I highly recommend PornCMS for bang for your buck and simplicity. So far everything has gone very well with PornCMS and it has been very well supported. I'm still sorting out some minor teething problems with uploads but have every confidence in their support. |

I think a lot of people talk bad about Wordpress just because it's such a widely used CMS. It's easy to find programmers and web designers that can configure WP to do or look like anything. Even if you can't find a plugin that is 'right' for you, you can hire a programmer to modify a similar script which would be cheaper than him starting from scratch.
To answer your question, then: yes, it is definitely a good idea for someone new to start making money with an adult site using WP. |

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear. Those two sentences weren't suppose to be reflective of each other. =)

I have been building sites for years using drupal most of the them non-porn, my first porn experiment I built in Drupal 6 and then I rebuilt it last year using version 7. I know Wordpress is very popular but I have never touched it, but it seems it is the defacto standard for the porn industry. I had always thought Wordpress was for making simple blogs but it seems to have come into own now, I like drupal because it can do more complex stuff and has a great support community online. Though it seems in the drupal forums no one wants to admit that they are making porn sites!
