Rookie Supreme!
Hello all.
I'm a complete rookie. Many years ago (when I initially registered an account here) I dabbled with free porn sites by using free hosts that provided content and making thumb galleries (all hand coded, I might add) and I hooked up with one affiliate program and stuck a banner at the top of each of the galleries I made. I then set out to drive traffic to my galleries and (hopefully!) make some money. I worked pretty hard at it for about 6 months and the biggest check I ever received was for like $38. Needless to say I was wasting my time. I'm ready to start anew using the keen guidance of my fellow GFY members. Here's the scoop: I'd basically like to create a page that hosts links to others' galleries. One site I frequently check out is Foobies.com. Their format is simple, and the galleries are usually top notch. I've already purchased a domain (boobieparade.com) and would basically like to mimic the other "link-farm" sites and allow users (as well as webmasters) to submit links to other galleries for the site. Any advice as to how to drive traffic to the site, how to earn money w/ the site, stumbling blocks to avoid, and legal issues I might have to deal with is greatly appreciated. In order to help you all understand my long-term goals I have listed them below: 1) After one year of full-on operation I'd like to be making around 100 bucks/month. 2) After 2 years, 200 bucks/week. 3 After 5 years, 200 bucks/day. Are these goals too lofty? Can this be done? Help? Keep in mind that I'm an office drone, and my salary is... Less than spectacular (so cheap/free services are one's I'm leaning towards) I humbly await your responses, Soup |

Welcome back to GFY! I don't think your goals are too lofty, actually I think you can hit those numbers in a shorter period of time if you are able to generate a consistent traffic flow.
Are you planning on building the site on your own or do you want to purchase a script? Either way its going to take some time or money to get the site up and running. Considering you are new to this industry and don't have a site or network of sites to funnel traffic from you might consider starting with a blog. Wordpress is the easiest and most powerful to use and it's free. Search Engines love blogs, especially ones that are updated daily with original content. Of course traffic can be purchased at Traffic Holder for as little as $2 per 1k. Once you have your site set-up you should join Thunder-Ball.net for free. You can trade hardlinks and traffic with other webmasters and the site keeps track of all your trades. I was a little all over the place with my advice but I hope it gives you something to chew on. Best of luck with your site!

sure man... those aren't too lofty. you've gotta be willing to work hard, and just one site isn't going to cut it.
you'll need multiples... and be in it for the long term. watch out for the hitbots if you get into traffic trading...

I agree with EthnicLover. If you're just getting started, a blog is the way to go. Too many people start with TGPs and that is a tough game.
If you don't know about WordPress, then the best place to start would be: codex.wordpress.org/Getting_Started_with_WordPress Pick a topic you geniunly enjoy writing about (if you don't like writing, then starting a blog probably isn't best for you) and start posting 1-2 posts per day, a few paragraphs in length along with an image or two leading to an internal (self-hosted) image gallery, a self-hosted video clip(s) and/or the paysite. After you have a few weeks worth of posting (keep in mind that with WordPress you can backlog posts) you can get going with traffic. Start with pinging adult directories every time you post and getting some backlinks by establishing relationships with other blogs that share the same topic of your blog. This can be done by contacting the blog owners directly via email etc or by posting on forums soliciting link trades. Some good links... pingoat.com pingomatic.com codex.wordpress.org/Introduction_to_Blogging the codex in general for ALL questions you have about WP... codex.wordpress.org adultblogresource.com/adult-blog-directories/ As far as avoidance goes...with starting a blog the biggest obstacle you will have to overcome is if you start getting lazy with the blog and lose interest. You NEED to pick a topic you absolutely LOVE writing about (which seems to be boobs with you), and keep writing about it as often as you can - preferably at least once per day, but quality is more important. Your posts need to be entertaining and keep the visitor's interest. Have fun with it! If you're really keen on accepting submissions, you could put a twist on the basic blog structure and start a babelog or videodump. Examples of these: crazydumper.com babes.coolios.net These are not really blogs, but if an important aspect in all of this is price, then you can use WordPress to create sites like these. I've had some success with videodumps but it's completely different territory, and thus little of the above information applies except that WP could be used as the CMS. Whatever way you go, good luck man! |

Your help is greatly appreciated
Thanks for all who've offered help. As far as a blog goes, should I really just write stuff about boobs and post a gallery there? I was thinking more about a huge list of links to affiliate galleries that I update daily. Is this feasible? I was considering using my own hosted galleries eventually, but wasn't going to do that till I started a decent average daily traffic flow.
Thanks again, and keep the help coming! Soup
