Domain Appraisal
Hey
I wasn't sure if I should put this Webmaster Q&A or anywhere else, but whatever. What do you think of HardcoreBlog.com? Peter |

To me, the name is good but I don't know if blogging about hardcore is something that will be profitable. The name is clear... Depends on your concept!

I think the name is decent but let's break it down and see how it turns out ....
Hardcore Blog is short and easy to remember, that's good. But amazingly enough there are only 149 listed searches for that phrase, according to Overture. That's not good and hurts your value greatly. Word tracker gives 149 "related" searches such as 51 searches for threesome hardcore anal blog 26 searches for mom hardcore blog The domain name is only two words. Better than a 3 word domain, worse than a one word domain. Both words are popular keywords on their own, but obviously not so much together (as per above data). So that hurts the overall value Both words are easy to spell - words that are complicated to spell have less value .... Like Restaurant ... yes, it's a common word, but often misspelled. I would say assuming the domain name has no traffic, no history, no unique content - just based on the name alone I would estimate it to be worth around $500 to $1,000 to a domain name reseller interested in adult names. By the way, I noticed your domain name does have a history (dating back to 2004) so any value you might have had from backlinks and age you are losing every moment that you have it parked. |

You aren't losing the age value while its parked - it's still getting older - so much as any backlinks (if it ever had any) and any rankings of pages from the old site. (archive.org shows a blog up as recently as May '07)
149 related searches in pretty good, but Overture stopped updating in Jan '07 so what you are actually seeing is what people were searching for 12 months ago. I'm not good at appraising though, you've already been offered more than I would have guessed. |

Well it's true you are not losing "age" but you are losing the value of the age when you park it because they
a) typically used shared IPs (which could potentially cause other problems) b) you have no original content (so you lose any value with SE) c) potential loss of back links from a variety of sources d) loss of potentially generating search engine traffic. Why not build up some search engine traffic to add to the value of your domain while you are trying to sell it? It can sometime take a few months to sell a domain name, sometimes even longer so why not spend that time and be productive by building it up some traffic through SEO. This will only add to the value of your domain and in some cases can double the value (or in some cases more) |

How does domain appraisel work.
I had 4 domains appraised at moniker and godaddy: smartfreeporn.com ($400) dummyporn.com ($350) idatealot.com ($150) and then I got CommunityPorn.com appraised. Well go to the site itself, i put the appraisel certificate on their. It said the domain was valued at $250k - $550k.. I don't understand.. will somebody enlighten me. I mean, I push 2000 sales weekly.. I know I could get CommunityPorn.com listed in googles top 10 PR within 3 weeks in all, but that much money? http://www.communityporn.com , what the hell is up with this.. I contacted moniker and godaddy, they said it was legitimately valued at that.. but then the people on these boards make fun and say they wouldn't pay 5 bucks for it? I'll give 10% commision to anyone who sells it. -Ex [email protected] |
