How are you suppose to get traffic?

Can an experienced webmaster please explain traffic expectations for websites pre goog1e sandbox days and today?

Basically I had launched a subdomain website in January, I started off doing link exchange and building pages and started getting about 20 hits from SE and then nothing obviously must have got sandboxed. I carried on builind a section of the site which now has 100 pages, some of these pages gave traffic but now the give nothing. I only get 5 hits from SE's.

Since I am new can someone give me an idea what has happened here and is this normal for websites being built today. Also based on what I have said would the story have been different if I launched before sandbox days?

Finally I have also started a foot fetish blogspot site since November 2007, it now has 109 pages of content but is only getting 20 - 40 hits from se's and recently for no reason all traffic almost stopped.

I ask the above questions because I hear so much of people launching normal sex sites and getting virtually thousands of hits within weeks. Why am I not experiencing this?

BTW - the subdomain is in my sig.

Thanks

You can try buying some traffic. You'll probably have to buy a quite a few k of hits to see any results though.

Apparently buying traffic is a waste of money.

That is a generalization..

Some bought traffic is worth it, other traffic is not.

I'd say it depends upon your ability to convert the surfer into repeat visitor and customer..

Anyways.. about your original question. Just keep building different sites you'll get it eventually..

you need to do a better job on SEO. Or hire someone that knows it well.

You could try putting stuff in your posts so visitors can click-thru. The only post with anything clickable is the livejasmin post.

Not sure what blog software you are using, but it isn't very good and is lacking key features. Try using wordpress, or try some of the others that people have mentioned in prior threads.

Also, I noticed on your linkex trade info, it has a PR6+ requirement. You main domain is only PR1. Good luck with that.

Its not a blog, its just a normal website.

PR6 is set because I do not want to do any more link exchange at the moment.

To the prvious poster before you, can you give an example on how the SEO can be imporoved or what have you seen lacking in my site?

Thanks

Also, wikipedia:

A top ranked SEO blog Seomoz.org[40] has reported, "Search marketers, in a twist of irony, receive a very small share of their traffic from search engines." Instead, their main sources of traffic are links from other websites.[41]

I think I might just start building websites in layers that way I am not relying on just SE's - but getting traffic from other sources.

Change of plan:

What I was intending to do was to complete the webcam section and then start building up the fetish, bdsm etc etc sections as they are just pointing directly to affiliate sites.

So I may just strip out all the other sections and re-write the main page just for webcams with relevant text targeting 'live sex', 'sex chat' and one or two others.

What do you guys reckon build the other areas up or strip them out and target the site just to cams?

Making all the text just for cam and making it about 400 words, do you think this will give me the 500 - 1000 uniques from SE's that I want?

Thanks

Sorry, the blog format of your page fooled me.

Regardless, there's still only one small portion in your main content section that is clickable. Fuck, at least make the thumbnails link to the sponsor or something.

Look at your site from the perspective of a surfer trying to jerk off. Could you bust a nut on your site?

Once you get the basics in place, then start worrying about getting traffic.

I agree, research and build a good foundation to what you think would make you money. ASK FOR THE SALE. Ask for it anyway you can, be blunt, be tricky, tease. Thats our job. Use some finesse.

In regards to traffic I have personally not had luck buying things. I'd recommend getting into doing tgp galleries (see chameleon submitter) to drive rather quick traffic to your site. In regards to SEO traffic, if you have a blog - using wordpress for example, this is usually setup already with SEO in mind - with some tweaks you can optimize it.

Other ideas are participating in forums related to your niche. Exchanging links, making creative trades, picposts (yes they still exist), content exchanges for links and more.
