The whole process takes 75 days from the time it "expired" to the time it is actually released. If it has good traffic, you may want to look into one of the "snap" companies to get i9t for you as there will be fierce competition for it.

I guess I need to come up with a calendar to predict the actual release. The domain has never been used, they just sat on it for years and years. I don't think I will have anyone else trying to get it, it's nothing special. I just want it cause it will make my business easier to promote.

Hmmmm. Based on my calculations, 75 days should end on Jan 8.... tomorrow. I'll keep an eye on it.

At godaddy, I get "Registry Status: redemptionPeriod". However, at register.com, I get "no match".

Can you not just backorder it? I'm a noob at this but I thought that when it is release then there is a big change u get it (depending on which company you use and if they set up auctions and such).

you can try to purchase a back order service from godaddy...once names do drop you need to be quick. I waited a while for a name to drop and it was registerd like an hour before I went to register it.

If you really want a domain, try paying for professional dropcatching

This might help ;) SnapNames domains + lots of data
http://freshsnap.com/

Or directly hit SnapNames:
http://www.freshsnap.com/snapnames.com

if domain was under Godaddy, then it will end in Godaddy aftermarket:
