Denver's defence and kicker are making him look really good. But to his credit he delivers when he has to.

lol, I'm not worried.

Even the commentators are laughing DURING programming about it. Why? Because they KNOW he's not a very good quarterback and the team is winning in spite of him.

He didn't kick the 58 yarder to tie the game, nor the 51 yarder to win it.

I think Denver plays New England this week. Now we'll see how Denver does with a QB that plays 1 quarter of each game against one of the BEST QB's in the game. If they're within 20 by the final whistle I'll be shocked.

It is crazy how he is winning. Let's see how he does about Brady and co.

I've been a Denver fan going back to the 70's and although I think Tebow brings new energy to the team I don't think he will ever be a great quarterback. He cannot throw, and although a friend of mine keeps saying he'll learn something tells me he's been trying to learn since he was 10. Its kind of irritating to hear the constant Jesus freak on the radio that didnt know what a field goal was before last week convinced they will win the super bowl because God loves Tebow. Truth is their defense is whats been winning games, not Tebow.

The team that scores the most points wins in football.

In each game that Denver won, who scored the most points, their offense or defense?

That's right the offense did and without those points they wouldn't win no matter how well the defense played.

In almost every offensive play the ball is touched by the QB. While he is nowhere near the level of Brady or Rogers or several other QBs he has played well enough to help his team win. The defense has been outstanding and has made it so the offense hasn't had to score a bunch of points to win. Playing aggressive on defense and conservative on offense has been a winning strategy for Denver and I'm sure a lot of other teams in the NFL wish they could do the same.

This Sunday they play New England and their game plan will probably change. Pats will score and this time Denver will have to be more aggressive on offense to keep the score close. It will be interesting to see if Tebow will be able to step it up.

The bottom line is if you're going to go and credit the defense with the wins then you're going to have to blame them for a loss as well :)

Funny, all the commentator comments I've heard about him lately have been positive. As in they're all praising the guy, for his mobility and his ability to run the ball as well as keep his focus downfield to make the rather impressive last-second 1st-down-getting throws he's made.

I haven't heard a commentator laughing at the guy since about 7-8 weeks ago.

No, but he did bust his ass in that quarter to get them into FG range, by running it when he had to, and by having an over 70% passer rating (in that quarter).

And to those saying his teammates did most of it, let's face it: no QB has ever in the history of the sport won a game entirely on his own. No one's saying this guy is doing it alone either, but again lets face it: the QB is the one guy that most often makes or breaks a teams' chances of winning.

A lot of people didn't expect Tebow to amount to anything, and saw the Broncos having a horrible season this year largely because of their QB woes. Now they are leading their div and in all likelyhood will be in the playoffs. How anyone can say that isn't in great part due to this Tebow guy baffles me.

They may lose this one, but so what? I'd say the guy has already proven his worth. If anyone still doubts that then why not ask his teammates what they think of him? I think it's their answers that might shock you more than if they win this week.

Caligari 12-18-2011 07:37 AM

Will Brady get Tebowed?

Stranger things have happened but I doubt it this time 'round.

Brady has the firepower, and although Tebow is a good running back I don't think he and the kicker can rack up the required points.

.

justinsain 12-18-2011 08:53 AM

Fortunately this isn't a must win for Denver so if they're going to lose its better now than later.

If Denver's defense is at the top of their game it could be another exciting game.

If Denver beats New England and Tebow throws for about 300 yds I might just have to go to Midnight Mass :)

Here's a clip from last night's Saturday Night Live

Tebow has yet to throw for 300 yds, matter of fact he is lowest as far as starting QB's with a total of 1200 yards, he is also lowest in completion percentage at 46.5%, and he is also 28 out of 30 in yds per pass at only 6.52 yards. And with the exception of Minnesota Tebow has been unable to score more than 17 points in any game. Hey but at least he has God on his side. :1orglaugh

The majority of people in this thread are obviously clueless when it comes to football and take all of their opinions from what sportscasters tell them to think.

Its not about the quarterback in football. It is about how a team is built.

If a team is heavy run and quality defence they play ball control. your job as a quarter back is to CONTROL the game and not give up turn overs.

Look you idiots are so clueless it is not even funny. Tebow fills a ROLE that is needed and that is why they are winning.

Stats, points, none of that matter when your team is built to wear down the defence and win in the bottom half of the game.

Now please idiots stop commenting on football. You're so clueless it is not even funny.

This has been my point all along :thumbsup

Its not the FG kicker that wins the game and its not Tebow that wins the game. It is the collective effort of all the players that have individually played their position adequately under the direction of the coaches and their game plan.

So give the kicker credit for doing his job.

Give the defense credit for doing their job.

Give Tebow credit for doing his job.

Big number stats don't me shit if you lose and any QB will tell you they would much rather throw for 50 yds and get a win than throw for 350 yds and lose.

Bottom line is the Denver TEAM is leading in their division and headed to the playoffs :)

Wrong, it is about the qb. There has never been an NFL dynamo without a great quarterback. I suppose though you being from Canada I can see why you would say that since the only decent qb to ever play in the CFL was Warren Moon. So you grew up watching NFL throwaways and were forced to believe qb's dont mean shit.

True, but that is not the case with this team, the offense isnt wearing anyone down, they lead the league in 3 and outs. It is their defense and special teams that is winning games, all this hype you would think Tebow has been outperforming Johnny Unitas when the truth is he just an over glorified running back.

Really insightful and left the ESPN commentators in awe as they watched it.

Carolina is my favourite team in the NFC by far. I have flown out just to watch their games. This is not a Carolina or Delhomme cuss. The fact is he was a relatively OK quarterback who got better because of the pieces around him. Not because he was an amazing quarterback.

The argument is about having a great quarterback matters. Which is not true. Having a quarterback who is great at his role is the only thing that matters.

If a quarterback plays his role then imo they are great. That is what Tebow is.

Nice try at knit picking off the thread topic though. You mad because you're broke?

considering the broncos record before tebow...to state he is just a cog in a wheel is ludicrous. What makes him different is the intangibles. His confidence. the way he lifts the players around him. its very unique, exciting, & anyone who discounts this is the moron.

To be fair, I do agree with your statement that it's not all about the QB, but having a good one certainly helps to actually win once you're in the Super Bowl. 80% of the league can get hot and beat any other team to get into the SB, but actually winning it usually requires more than a shitbum QB... unless you have a super crazy defense, or you're facing another shitty team that streaked it's way in.

You have a couple of misfires on your list.

Rich Gannon an average QB? This guy was a 2 X Pro Bowl MVP. 3 X AFC Player of the year. In 2002 the year he was in the Super Bowl he won the league MVP, was selected to the pro bowl, won the NFL Alumni QB of the year award, was the AFC player of the year and was the Pro Bowl MVP. I would say he was a little more than an average QB. Yes, he stunk it up in the Super Bowl that year, but his career was well above average.

Kurt Warner was an unproven QB when he started the season, but by the end of that season he was a Pro Bowl Selection, the league MVP and he would go on to be the Super Bowl MVP that year. I would say by the time they got to the Super Bowl he was much more than an average QB.

Aww come on, Tebow had a good throw today lol.

(Yes it's sad when you can count a QB's 'good' throws with 1 finger)

Seriously though, Tebow is just a random story those in the media are trying to make happen.

"The guy has so much heart" .. right, first set of broken ribs and you'll finally hear people talk about how stupid some of his runs are.

"He keeps them in games and set himself up for the 4th!" .. Actually, most of his wins are because his defense kept him in the game and even had to score for him otherwise the 4th qtr would be irrelevant.

"It doesn't matter how many yards he throws, it matters if he wins" .. I seem to recall hearing something similar in 2009 with a guy named Orton, who went 6-0 with the Broncos before coming back to reality. Where is Orton now?

It's good Broncos fans have something to cling to this season, but the reality is nobody in the media would give a shit about Tebow if he wasn't some super jesus-freak underdog who everyone has an opinion on. I bet half these casual football fans couldn't name 5 QB's after Brady, Rodgers, Brees and the Manning sisters, even from the winning teams.

Next week he faces The Chiefs and the QB that was fired to make room for Tebow.

Winner also wins the division.

Couldn't make up anything more dramatic than that to define Tebow and the Bronco's season :)

You either didn't watch their games, or weren't paying attention.

Their wins are because of multiple turnovers, sometimes in their own red zone and at critical times. Their defense coming up with huge plays. Their kicker nailing a fucking 59 yard field goal or teams like the Bears self destructing and handing them the game.

Not to mention, every team they've played has had countless injuries. The only healthy teams they've played are the Lions, Patriots and Bills.

I see some potential in the kid, but the Tim Tebow fan boys are complete morons. They're totally irrational just like some religious nut job on the side of the road talking about the end of days.

He's had time to work on his dynamics, he was around before this season. Denver just needs to make him a hybrid halfback. Given his size and strength he's a legitimate runner and he can serve as a second QB who will be on the football field with the rest of the offense.

That's a threat they need to develop, a great QB AND Tim Tebow still in the offense.

Tim Tebow is a mediocre QB, and that's putting it nicely.

He has speed and he's tough. He can make some plays once he starts moving around. Any QB that can buy time to let plays develop is a threat on some level, defenses can get exhausted trying to keep up.

Here is what I don't like about him. I have yet to see him nail ONE pass into a tight window under pressure. Even rookies who are rough around the edges can do it, maybe just not consistently. Yes, he avoids interceptions by not making those types of plays, but you can't consistently win against good teams without that ability IMO. It's one of the abilities all the elite QBs in this league do to separate themselves from just average.

Today was proof of that, the Bills contained him in the pocked and had good coverage on all his receivers. He was forced to eventually throw the ball into coverage, and it led to the ugly side of his abilities throwing a football come out.

The throws we do see him make are usually in completely busted coverage when a safety isn't playing over the top or screens and slants with catch & runs. Obviously, those are important everyday throws a QB in this league should make, but let's be honest, even the most mediocre QBs do it week in and week out.

His throwing dynamics are a joke, it's even more apparent when he's under pressure. At times he'll throw the ball under pressure and miss his receiver by a mile or throw it right into the hands of a defender.

The Broncos as a team had a great streak though. If I was a Broncos fan I'd cherish that, then look forward to what Tebow can do for that offense not as a starting QB. :thumbsup

Two wins away from getting into the Super Bowl :)

I'm going to keep this thread going just so we can see who has an eye for potential
and who's expectations have been exceeded.

Yesterday we saw Tebow's potential. He threw some awesome passes and when he learns to throw a spiral he'll get another ten yards out of them :winkwink:

Ran for one TD and a couple key first downs.

He's an unconventional, hybrid QB. It would be stupid to try and make him conventional.
Play on his strengths instead of creating a weakness even if it means building the team around him.

Phil Sims got it right when he said the Coach needs to let him go, find his rhythm and do what comes naturally to him. Yesterday he played like he was still in college and the result was a win. I had hoped the coaches would have implemented yesterday's play calling in the New England game.

This win is pivotal as to the coaches approach and exactly what they needed to make a run for the Super Bowl.

Are you really comparing Tebow to Eli Manning? I'd say Eli had a pretty good year,

Top 5 in yards last year as well. Thats some pretty good company i'd say.

He's stepped up when he's needed to - have to admit that. Otherwise he can't throw for shit it seems but he made some nice ones yesterday that wound up being just enough.

Pats will destroy the shit out of them though so it's all moot.
