Actually theres a lot of research in europe suggesting that regular intake of vitamins increases your chances of bowel cancer, prostate cancer and other complaints.

I do take vitamins but very irregularly, i take one (twice a week max) - its better to just get a balanced diet and occasionally pop one. Eat a lot of fruit.

A multi and flax oil pills.

Pleasurepays 05-19-2007 01:36 PM

vitamins and minerals and essential fatty acids regulate almost every single process and function in your body. thats their purpose. it would be silly not to take the full array of vitamins and you only need a few minutes of examining your own diet and the average amounts of bio-available vitamins and minerals in those foods you eat to see that you will fall short in almost every area.

i think everyone should be taking at least a multi vitamin and some source of essential fatty acids like flax seed oil capsules.

I find it funny how no one has mentioned Vitamin D.. Getting proper intake of Vitamin D (2000 IU) can reduce cancer by 50-60%. Although certain things like milk, yogurt or brocoli all contain Vitamin D, they don't provide enough of it. You would have to drink 40 glasses of milk to get the proper amount. The body also produces vitamin D from sunlight, which is funny cause too much sunlight can cause skin cancer. Countries like mine, Canada, only recommend 400IU which is only 20% of required amount. Just check your multivitamin, it will probably only have 400IU of vitamin D. So I would go out to the store and pick some vitamin D up, and B is great too for stress relief and energy.

It's all about the quality of the vitamin or don't even bother taking them, you will be pissing your money away, literally. I take the best Whole Foods has to offer.

frostyimpressions 05-21-2007 02:16 PM

I'm not sure if this is what you are talking about, but if it is, I think it's vitamin b6 or thiamin which helps in converting the sugars and carbs you consume into energy.

Used to when I was a kid, now I prefer eating veggies.

JP513 05-23-2007 11:11 PM

I take a multivitamin and a B complex and a C. I only seem to remember about twice a week. So I don't notice any difference except peace of mind.

The multivitamin almost makes me vomit.Maybe that's why I'm conveniently forgetting.

A liter? That's bad news. Too many sugar and carb grams in that. Carrot juice is something I drink but it doesn't taste anywhere near is good.

it could be argued that the negatives of drinking a liter of what is essentially, orange flavored syrup, far outweigh the positives.

Screaming 05-31-2007 11:54 AM
