What types of monkeys are legal to own?
just a question..
|
What you mean by "own"?
|
They should all be illegal to own.

All of them I think in some countries unless you have a license.
Best to ask the local ASCPA, did I get that right? Or go to Google. Found this Quote:

A bonus in doing so is that if you are serious about getting one, they will be the ones who will nurse your monkey back to health. You can find out exactly what kind of experience they have with that particular animal. |

why would you want to have something that behaves like an insane 2 year old child for 10, 20 or 30 years anyways. go visit a zoo :) |
Owning monkeys hasn't been cool for 150 years...
|
What about 'helper monkeys' though? The ones that assist the disabled?
Do the disabled own them, or are they leased? |

Depends on the state, in California, you can't own Piranha because they can live in the Aqueduct and you can't own a skunk because they scare the shit out of people.
Would be funny to de perfume a skunk and teach it to walk on a leash |
Leave my people alone

Worst pets ever.

I don't think those ones with the big red asses are legal to own, if that's what you were thinking.

I think there are a couple kinds that you can own but make sure you don't get the kind that's known to rip off people's faces and hands and eat them alive...:2 cents:

monkeys are intelligent just like us humans (err, some more, some less) ... wud YOU want to be locked up or leashed? THINK before getting a pet ...
|
Why would you want monkeys? they are creepy and sooner or later they will fuck you over.

When I was growing up my family owned a zoo in Massapequa NY. It was called the Massapequa Zoo and Kidde Park. Themed around a monkey mountain constructed by Frank Buck, in his time a famous animal trapper. That mountain housed around 300 monkeys originally from India. People came from all over the world to see the mountain; it was truly an amazing site to see. I asked to work with the animals rather than out front where we had built rides for the kids. Well they may have looked cute but I came to learn real soon they were filthy, ferocious animals some weighing as much as 80 pounds that could kill a man. They almost killed me, my uncle actually had to shoot one of them.
Stay away from that type of monkey for sure. We also had a little Spider Monkey that was housed in a different part of the zoo. She was really cute and adorable weighed less than 10 pounds. I remember her jumping on my chest and clinging to me when I would feed her and clean her cage. When they sold the property I really wanted to take her home and I could have but decided against it because of all the work involved taking care of her. They are like babies that never grow up. So if you really want a Monkey I would suggest the Spider Monkey, but I’d give it a lot of though first. |
