Do you buy "used" things?

I tend to buy almost everything I can used. A few things are off-limits, items that I don't think would stand up to multiple users, but aside from those items Amazon Marketplace is my best friend. I prefer Amazon over eBay, I find it easier to use and also better customer support.

Any tips for finding great used items?

scarlettcontent 05-11-2011 05:42 AM

I buy all sorts of shit off ebay all the time. :thumbsup

u-Bob 05-11-2011 05:43 AM

books sometimes...

ottopottomouse 05-11-2011 06:10 AM

Christmas cards :upsidedow

Seriously though, it really depends on the item. There's far more things that I would only buy new compared to what I would buy used.

CaptainHowdy 05-11-2011 06:12 AM

Used food ...

bronco67 05-11-2011 06:33 AM

The only thing I wouldn't buy used is a couch or bed....or a keyboard. Can you imagine all the dried jizz molecules crusted between the keys?

LOL, definitely not buying a used mattress.

Chris 05-11-2011 06:37 AM

sure things like gadgets and shit like that
but never used clothes or shoes or beds or furniture or bedding

basicly anything i dont "wear" or my body would touch id buy used if i could find a good deal

candyflip 05-11-2011 06:40 AM

My girl's sister has a daughter 2 years older than my oldest. She has never passed down any clothing of any sort, until about 2 months ago when she sent a HUGE bag of little underpants. I thought that was kind of weird and we threw the bag right into the trash.

Aside from that, I really don't have an issue with used...especially with kids clothing because they wear shit 2-3 times before they outgrow it. As for electronics, it's usually possible to purchase a third party warranty through a service like SquareTrade.

HomerSimpson 05-11-2011 06:52 AM

mostly books...

PornGreen 05-11-2011 06:55 AM

no i do not

cooldude7 05-11-2011 06:59 AM

i also buy most of stuff , used.

in case of my computer i only buy non movable parts, used like ram, cpu...

but the last movable thing i bought used is my bike.

cherrylula 05-11-2011 07:00 AM

Sometimes... I love flea markets and old thrift stores. I have a vagina so that means I like to buy and collect useless things that are shiny, sparkly or cute. I have too much crap! help!

helterskelter808 05-11-2011 07:09 AM

Maybe this.

lilith_pet 05-11-2011 07:12 AM

Depends on what kind of things... If it's not used underwear or somethin, they I have no problem with used stuff :)

Cyndalie 05-11-2011 07:14 AM

Toys for the kids, sure. Sport/Exercise equipment, no problem. Nothing wrong with most items being used, especially if taken well care of. No ok - bathing suits, shoes, bedding, personal items, most electronics, and the common sense stuff. My weakness - I have an aversion to used cars.

Babaganoosh 05-11-2011 07:14 AM

I buy tons of used shit. I love buying broken laptops, fixing them and selling them on on craigslist. I rarely buy anything for myself that is used but I love reselling used shit.

seeandsee 05-11-2011 07:17 AM

I got hi-fi for my car, via ebay like site

ThumbLord 05-11-2011 07:20 AM

books, LP's and broken electronics to fix them

Ross 05-11-2011 07:26 AM

Only thing I buy used is Cars. I won't buy anything else used ever. You don't know who or what has used it before you. Brand new all the way for me.

Sly 05-11-2011 07:27 AM

I'm more concerned about what some 16 year old dork is doing to my food at a restaurant than what someone is doing with a used DVD, LOL.

is it legal to buy this ?., i mean can u buy this ?? if u have cash.

punker barbie 05-11-2011 07:31 AM

the 2 things that come to mind are gym equipment & cars

michael.kickass 05-11-2011 07:37 AM

Nope, I don't. Had a few bad experiences already. :2 cents:

PR_Glen 05-11-2011 07:47 AM

I always have my eyes open for good used stuff. Mostly musical instruments (looking at a lot of trombones and trumpets lately) Some furniture, like tables and dressers and that kind of stuff here and there.

Oh and old tools, still building up my blacksmith shop so getting new stuff for that is impossible for the most part.

I'll check out craigslist, kijiji (canadian version of cg) and a bit on ebay. ebay is a pain sometimes, good deals here and there but between bid snipers and inflated shipping charges it can be a pain in the ass sometimes... Flea markets are my favourite--especially for antiques and weapons.

adultzone 05-11-2011 08:04 AM

I bought anything as long as it is ok to use!

AnimeFevers 05-11-2011 08:25 AM

The only thing I wouldn't buy used is clothes and condoms lol.

Miz_Wright 05-11-2011 08:30 AM

Sure.

I'm kinda amused at how many people won't buy used clothing - I'm going to wash it before I put it on anyhow, and you never know how many people tried something on at a store before you buy it, either.

I grew up loving vintage clothing and in a house filled with antiques - which are used. I use my grandmother's china and my great-aunt's silver, and one of my most cherished possessions is a heavily embroidered sheath dress from the 60s.

I see your point, I dunno why I'm like this I just always have been. I won't even buy used DVDs or games for my consoles. It has to be new.

96ukssob 05-11-2011 08:42 AM

depends on what it is, but for most things I dont mind.

u-Bob 05-11-2011 08:43 AM

I'm surprised Juicy hasn't come in to say: condoms :)

alexchechs 05-11-2011 08:43 AM

It depends on the item. I purchased my golf clubs used but wouldnt buy anything for my kitchen used. Electronics would have to be a really good deal in excellent condition

Phoenix 05-11-2011 08:45 AM

i buy used cars, as it is such a waste to buy brand new.
houses, usually people dont buy newly constructed homes.
i buy from second hand book stores
other then that im not sure there is much else i would want to buy 2nd hand.

Kids toys and such we havent had to buy a single item, or a simgle clothing item. We were the last of my wifes friends to have kids, so we have everything, we have so much we are giving it out to others..lol That is not even counting shopahaolic grandma

It's a philosophical (metaphysical) impulse ...

Seth Manson 05-11-2011 09:05 AM

I have a very expensive hobby so when I can buy that stuff used and in good condition, I normaly do just because I know the resale on it is normaly bad. But thats probably about the only thing I actually look for used. But sometimes you run across on a good deal on something used that you normaly wouldnt buy used and its just too good to pass up.

Luscious Media 05-11-2011 09:19 AM

Yard, tag and garage sales. Not only can you find great deals but a lot of the stuff is brand new and still in the wrapper. It's also a great way to get on peoples property and see what else they might have. Classic cars in garages for example.
