Do you still have cable?

Was wondering how many of yall have cut cable tv out of your life?

I pay about $150 a month for my tv package that i watch maybe once a week

I really could do without it i bet

vsex 05-21-2011 05:50 PM

Directv :thumbsup

adultzone 05-21-2011 05:55 PM

I only pay 10 bucks per month

CyberHustler 05-21-2011 05:57 PM

I'm fond of directv...

Seth Manson 05-21-2011 05:57 PM

These days you could probably get along with basic cable and then a Netflix & Hulu+ subscription. Thats if you have a broadband interweb connection. Especially if you dont watch TV much.

scubadiver626 05-21-2011 06:13 PM

Basic cable and net $29. Hulu is free!

Barefootsies 05-21-2011 06:33 PM

Yep, still pay for cable.

I have one of their 'packages' including the highest speed cable internet they offered. However, I find myself watching NetFlix more than the cable over the past few months since signing signing up for NF and getting the GoogeTV flat screen.

L-Pink 05-21-2011 06:39 PM

Cable and internet around $90 a month.

clicker 05-21-2011 07:49 PM

No TV for 9 months. Watch shows on hulu and movies no netflix.

Shedevils 05-21-2011 07:57 PM

I just gave away one of my TV's, and I can see the day coming when the other one goes as well and with it the TV portion of my cable subscription.

Yngwie 05-21-2011 08:12 PM

I do since it makes my bill cheaper. I get phone, tv and 15mbps internet for cheaper then if I only had phone and 15 mbsp internet. Of course, I almost never watch tv though.

bignasty 05-21-2011 08:20 PM

I have a guitar string shoved in the back of my tv and get whatever that will pick up. I barely even watch tv anyway.

Phillipmcd1 05-21-2011 08:26 PM

Yeah but I haven't really watched it in around a year. I only watch if something major happens like the Bin Laden death

Furious_Male 05-21-2011 08:35 PM

Cable for internet is the best I can do in my area so for now yes.

Jim_Gunn 05-21-2011 08:35 PM

These threads are always popular because there's a lot of people who like to brag that they don't own a tv, or don't watch it for some reason. I personally enjoy DirecTV, the free HD DVR they gave me and the amount of HD channels they have for tv shows, movies, documentaries and live MMA.

Chosen 05-22-2011 02:55 AM

I don't have any TV and very happy about that.

V_RocKs 05-22-2011 02:58 AM

Cables are for stringing up chairs so you can get to the top of the ski slop.

Emil 05-22-2011 03:35 AM

I never watch TV, I seriously dont know if I ever connected the cables.

grumpy 05-22-2011 03:49 AM

i wish we had, sat sucks

ottopottomouse 05-22-2011 03:59 AM

Never had cable. Don't watch enough TV to justify it plus at my current house it isn't in the road anyway.

CDSmith 05-22-2011 05:08 AM

$170/mth for their "deluxe digital package", includes:

digital cable w/ about 200 channels, all regular tv networks (US, CAN, etc), and HBO and Movie Central/Showtime
Digital Phone w/ free calling to anywhere in N America,
High Speed Internet

Been with the same company for over 12 years now. (For TV been with them far longer)

candyflip 05-22-2011 05:12 AM

Yes and no. I have the $20 a month basic service to the line but don't use.

I download everything I watch automatically via Torrent. And use Hulu Plus and Netflix.

thickcash_amo 05-22-2011 05:18 AM

yeah I have cable tv. Its like 100 for the tv and internet...ugh

TheDoc 05-22-2011 05:53 AM

We pay for hulu... we haven't had cable in a few years (3-4 years?), prob wont ever have it again, not at least until they can offer each unique channel I want without any of the extra fluff.

Rochard 05-22-2011 07:33 AM

I have cable, it's $80 a month for some 700 channels and two DVRs. Watch it daily.

u-Bob 05-22-2011 07:34 AM

yes, € 35 / month I think :)

CurrentlySober 05-22-2011 07:39 AM

I cant even afford a TV...

fuzebox 05-22-2011 09:53 AM

I've got the minimum required to get internet, and a Netflix subscription...

I'm actually considering going back to the full package with everything though, there's a lot of content I miss that Netflix doesn't have.

blonda80 05-22-2011 11:14 AM

cable .

Scott McD 05-22-2011 11:58 AM

My monthly bill is £85 now. That's for tv, internet connection and phone.

I'd get rid of the tv package, though i need it for the sports package. Would be lost without it!

dyna mo 05-22-2011 12:04 PM

i am actually going to try to run my new studio via a 4g lte smartphone that i can link several devices to. combined with a roku and netflix, i can conceivable have faster than broadband connection,2+ voip phone lines, all the tv, movies and music i need and the smart phone line for $75ish a month. the studio is in downtown la and just blocks from a verizon station. i hope it can work, would be cool!

brassmonkey 05-22-2011 12:11 PM

last time i looked in my boxers yes

bdld 05-22-2011 02:44 PM

dont need it, hulu and netflix give me all i need.

The Apprentice 05-22-2011 03:11 PM

There was a brief moment (2002-2006) where cable wasn't that popular and but they started bundling cable with high speed internet and phone service and they're very good at selling it to you . They don't stop until all 3 are in your house.

I can tell just by your question that you've been on DSL for the last years, own a PC and use an iPhone.

AdultKing 05-22-2011 05:37 PM

Cable TV Sucks. Why would you pay for TV with ads ?

kristin 05-22-2011 05:39 PM

You have a computer, Internet and TV ... why bother with cable?

We haven't had cable in two to three years and I'll never go back.

Try getting your content LEGALLY.

The day they let me buy only the channels *I* want, ill get cable again. Till then hulu and a antenna (hd's actually better over the air then with cable). Don't really watch tv much anyway. Only thing I miss is deadliest catch. not paying 65-75 a month for DC. Just not a fucking option.
