Pornhub & YouPorn Owner Funds Fight Against Cyberlockers

http://torrentfreak.com/pornhub-youp...ockers-120623/

Quote:

The company behind YouPorn and PornHub has agreed to fund an anti-piracy outfit dedicated to bringing down ?rogue? cyberlockers and illicit file-sharing forums. Speaking with TorrentFreak, the Adult Content Industry United Foundation says they will be using the money to cut off funding to cyberlockers in the hope that hitting them in the pocket brings them to their knees. But are cyberlockers and so-called ?tube? sites facing the same issues?

wow. I love it. I guess these cyberlockers started to get too big for their britches in manwins eyes. It's transparent what is going on but if you share a comon enemy you can be, at the very least, 'symbiotic'.

Klen 06-23-2012 05:17 AM

So they don't like competition huh :D

MaDalton 06-23-2012 05:33 AM

this is really funny, but for a totally different reason than you would think

Brad Mitchell 06-23-2012 05:36 AM

I like what ACIUF is up to and its mission, I was just checking out his site last week. Its my list to follow up with. It seems righteously guerilla. :)

in my case a very personal reason :)

but i totally appreciate any effort that helps to bring down file lockers, torrents etc.

tubes are a totally different animal imo

beerptrol 06-23-2012 06:12 AM

taking down the competition

BIGTYMER 06-23-2012 06:19 AM

Unreal..

They have to stick their dirty hand in everything.

Paul Markham 06-23-2012 06:42 AM

Rather than flame, support them. They are doing something.

Though this I don't understand.

So going after the money is the best way to hit them.

If there is no money, there is no reason to do it.

How are they going to pay for their labor and bandwidth? It all takes money to run a business.

If they can't buy them, and I'm sure they have tried, they are left with no other choice. There is only room for one ginormous pirate operation in town. :winkwink:

Either way, file lockers going offline is a positive step. Anyone who is able to bring down a single one, large or small, gets a kudos in my book. Personally, I like seeing Manwin go after these guys, as they have the resources to take the lead on this and see it through. If anyone has the power to get the job done, besides Corbin Fisher, it would be them.

What I don't want to see is a bunch of lawsuits where Manwin ends up owning all the file lockers. That would be disastrous.

Yah you gotta be careful with hidden Agendas.

I don't feel like Manwin has shown any regard for morals and ethics unless it benefits them financially.

Businesses are in business to make money, that's not the point.

I really hate to say it but I don't think real change will occur unless Manwin also steps up to the plate and helps put a stop to it (including on their own sites). At this point we really need them. The pay site industry is that far gone because of the rampant piracy over the last five years.

I recall in the past much discussion about repeat infringers. Did Fabian ever enact a policy to terminate (or at least suspend future uploads from them) repeat infringers after three strikes and remove all their videos automatically as Youtube does?

Mutt 06-23-2012 12:44 PM

Is it common knowledge that Choopa and the Mansef gang owned Filesonic and Fileserve?

I don't think Fabian, whatever you think of him, would risk what Manwin now owns and controls by owning large file sharing operations. The Feds took down Megaupload, it looks like Oron is on the run, file sharing sites look to be sitting ducks while tube sites continue to flourish behind the DMCA's 'safe harbor' provision.

Manwin's core business is still adult paysites, so file sharing sites are its enemy as much as for any of us smaller businesses. It's why in another thread I asked Fabian why Manwin hasn't done what Corbin Fisher has done.

I've been saying for years it's the file sharing sites that will kill us all off, tube sites have never bothered me as much.

Manwin must have invested close to a million dollars in Babes.com - take a look at today's offerings from Seaporn.org http://www.seaporn.org/

This is a long fight and it seems more are joining the war and we're winning some battle.

these posts seem confusing though given the latest news.

Exactly. Whoever came up with this idea is either fucking stupid or a brilliant depending on which side they are on.

Perfect match.. two organizations that managed to piss off a lot of people in a very short amount of time. Congrats to the winners. :1orglaugh

Hopefully the file sharing sites will fight back against the tubes, trying to get their bulking cut off. If they both go war, they both lose.

Personally I love the irony that seeps out of this whole saga. I call it....

"The Great Pirate War of 2012"

:)

Robbie 06-23-2012 08:44 PM

It's like some kind of gang war.

"Don't steal on the same corner I'm stealing on"

Both sides are thieves in my opinion.

Tubes sell porn tho, and file lockers and torrents don't, i have tried it :) Tubes generate tons of porn sales, so it is good to see file lockers go :)

I'd rather have manwin running the corner in front of my house than a file locker. At least you can reason with manwin & they wont tag up your house & drink 40's on your porch & rep stupid colors. Cyberlockers are what happens when jamal takes over your corner. Both are bad, but at least manwin is trying to stay within the letter of the law, albeit the law sucks.

I know what you're saying...but personally I'd like to go outside with my shotgun and clear my corner of ALL the thieves. And if this was real life and not some goddamn virtual game that these pirates are playing, that's exactly what I would do.

Slew_ 06-23-2012 09:59 PM

I heard they are fighting for people who steal content too...

When the enemy starts fighting within, it weakens them.

um...... this is real life. not suggesting you do anything violent but not like all these people who steal content are virtual, they're flesh and blood people.

DTK 06-23-2012 10:30 PM

Hypocrisy at its finest

JOKER 06-23-2012 11:33 PM

I know where you're all coming from, but give Manwin some time, they will eventually come around :2 cents: :)

In my eyes, I think this is a good start, but I guess you have to start "believing" to see it. :winkwink:

I know most can't agree with it on principle, but I'd say in general - the less free porn easily available to end-users the better chances for us all to actually sell porn again.

This is actually the time to decide on which side you are on, are you just going to continue bitching or are you going to help this time around - most of us have just sat by idle while the tubes and file-lockers started taking over... Maybe it's time to stop sitting on the sidelines and take a stance with those that actually put their money and lawyers where their mouth is.

Oh and: One thing you all should realize - once there are no more rogue lockers, boards and tubes left - Manwin could actually flip the "free porn switch" off - ever considered thinking that this is the groundwork for a much larger "end-goal" (sorry there it is again) ?

Did you give Fabian a black eye after his keynote in Vegas?

I actually think that's the main goal. Control everything, kill the competion and then "flip the free porn swith off" and reep in the benefits.

So don't give up, keep building your sites, work on getting traffic to them and lets hope that is actually the goal.
