What is the very best chocolate?

I'm partial to Lindt milk chocolate myself, but I'm curious to know what you think is best.

Wilbur Chocolate (1865) in Lititz, PA .... the oldest chocolateir in the USA ... beating Hershey's (1894) by 29 years ....

Hershey actually copied Wilbur Buds for it's now iconic Hershey's Kisses ...

If you ever get to Lititz, PA .... Wilbur 70% Cocoa covered pretzels are TO DIE FOR

Most well known Belgian chocolatiers produce far better chocolate than anywhere else in the world.

e.g. Neuhaus

They also make the world's best beer and belgian waffles, mmm.

Anything that isn't American.

;)

Fucking hershey's is what, 2% cocoa solids? Tastes like dust. Utterly shockingly shit.

Green and Black's is my favourite.

Before the free chocolate industry happened I used to make 3k a day selling old eastern European chocolate to David Sullivan. And the chocolate always wanted to fuck me too.

You're all clueless idiots thinking that free chocolate is a good idea...

Relentless 07-18-2012 01:30 PM

If you know anyone with a peanut allergy (they can't even eat chocolate without nuts if it is processed in a plant that also processes nuts), you have probably already heard of http://www.vermontnutfree.com

It happens to also be the best chocolate I have ever tasted
Be sure to try the Maple Creams

FlowerKid 07-18-2012 01:42 PM

Sprüngli makes the best chocolate in the world. The company is now together with Linth, but Linth stands more for industrial produced chocolate while Sprüngli makes delicious specialities in smaller amounts.

+1 all the way

BV 07-18-2012 05:54 PM

What's ironic is that cocoa doesn't grow in Germany, France, Switzerland, or even US. So it's really the process of making the chocolate that makes it different and nothing to do with the geography of the actual "chocolate"

Theo 07-18-2012 06:27 PM

toblerone is good too, the airport chocolate

Lot's of good ones in here. Toblerone is a good everyday chocolate. Good in fondue also.

Can't believe anyone would mention Hershey's. That has to be the worst tasting chocolate ever.

d-null 07-18-2012 08:44 PM

funny how many people are mentioning "milk chocolate" :1orglaugh

real connoisseurs know that the only true way to eat elite chocolate is in very dark form :2 cents:

Joshua G 07-18-2012 08:54 PM

with so many great chocolates, hard to say one beats them all, its a matter of taste. With that said, these 2 places deserve a mention.
