Bosnia and Serbia emergency after 'worst ever' floods

http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/image...9_74922768.jpg

Bojana Nedeljkovic has relatives in the Bosnian town of Doboj; ''There is concern about food and water supplies being delivered to those who need it''

States of emergency have been declared in parts of Bosnia and Serbia after the heaviest rain and worst floods since records began 120 years ago.

Overflowing rivers have burst into towns and villages, cutting off whole communities, while landslides have buried houses.

At least three people have drowned.

Army helicopters have been sent to evacuate thousands of stranded residents but reports say bad weather is hampering the rescue efforts.

Western medias don't give a coverage. It is incredible catastrophe and something never seen before.Houses are destroyed, cites flooded, bridges down, many roads don?t exist, and there are dead animals and ruined crops .( not to mention stores, cars, buldings..) .

We don?t know amount of dead people yet. I was listening radio amateurs during nights and evacuation process.

There were enormous amount of people willing to help and we had more volunteers then we need it so at the end they had to be turned back to homes because there were too many people. It is interesting how people are working together when it is catastrophe. That cooperation reminds me of 1999 and war. People are giving homes, apartments, hotels?to put evacuated people. You can find online free offers of homes and places for people that lost homes. There is enough food and water but it seems that there is problem with hygiene and new problems are coming after water is withdrawn.

All land that was flooded and cities must be disinfected and Serbia don?t have enough materials for disinfection of that scale. There are also many dead animals and biggest fear is from diseases that will come.

Government ordered people not to touch dead animals until they get instructions or government services come but I doubt many will listen. At first moment many people refused to evacuate because no one thought it could be so serious so that made additional problems and slowed down security services.

Everyone are helping?Chinese people collecting money and merchandise, private companies, ordinary people, females preparing meals for volunteers, even asylum seekers from their centers (they are mostly from middle east and Syria).

How serious it was, you can see on this video here:

People are also mad on EU that ignored call for help and while EU officials told that they didn?t get any kind of request in the moment while Russians were already here. They were also late because American ass lickers Romanianas, didn?t give them to fly over and come to Serbia to help. They came and saved 39 kids and around 400 people

@femdomdestiny i guess you are from Serbia, since you put an effort to show what's happening in my country.

Let me tell you what's happening, as another person who live in Serbia. You don't need quotation mark. This is a WORST EVER floods. Maybe not like tsunami in Japan, but this flood destroyed 1/3 of our country. almost all middle/upper part of country is flooded. And our country is poor, we don't have resources like Japan to build up roads as fast as they. It will pass more than 10 years for some parts of flooded roads to be built up again. In some parts water was over 6 meters deep, and that is deeper than some houses, tens of thousands of people had to leave their homes and get evacuated. All the crops that were biggest part of our industry are destroyed like wheat for breed. Our coal mine is now one giant lake. 3 chemical factories had to get sealed and evacuated.... and so on. But for some reason media don't want to talk about that so much.

Media from US and EU didn't even wanted to talk anything about floods until our Tennis player Novak Djokovic during interview told them that it's a shame and rude how no one from media wan't to talk about this.

In one of flooded cities one of the dam couldn't hold on anymore, and in 5 min the city was flooded. Imagine you work hard, build a house, buy a car(not a new one, something 10-15 years old is like a new for us) buy a furniture, open a store, bakery, and all that with salary of 200-600 euro per month. And all that gone in just 5 min and you spent 20 years of saving and working to build that.

The city had nearly 70 000 people and all is gone, even if someone apartment is on 4th floor of building, that building will collapse once land starts to dry and pull down.

Just take a look at this photo and video, this is reality, not media coverage.

Here you can see the city from air.
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=1&theater

And here's video, instead of cars, a boat is going through the streets.

"Serbia's urgent request for high capacity water pumps and operational teams has been channelled through the European Commission’s Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) and was answered positively within a matter of hours by Bulgaria, Germany, Slovenia and Austria. Thirty six hours after the Serbian request was made the number of Member States offering assistance has reached ten, with the Czech Republic, France, Croatia, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia joining the relief efforts."

So, the "bad" EU just stood by and watched ... really? How pathetic do you have to be to use this to score political points

And how stupid you must be that you don't know chronology of events but you are making conclusion that I am getting some imaginary political points?

36 hours after request was made. 36 hours is 1.5 days. That is a bullshit , since flooding started on last and Thursday (and it was raining days before that and state announced to people that there will be many problems.. Russians were here on 15th in the evening (23:15) (here ya go http://www.blic.rs/Vesti/Drustvo/465...ze-u-poplavama ), four days ago from now and in that moment EU stated that they didn't get any call for help!!?, which is a total bullshit because Russians were there already and helping in the moment of that statement. As far as I know, Russia is much more far then Europe and call for help was sent in the same time.

Add also additional time that Russian help could not come because Romanians (EU), blocked aircraft with help.(yeah, blocked....hope you understand that word)

So continue to believe in EU statements and bullshit you are reading there. I've just wrote you chronology of events and backed up with dates and link. There were no coverage in western media, what I 've wrote in first post here and member lonerunner did the same in his post(above). If something is not written in your favorite EU media, it doesn't mean it is not happening. You should know that until now.

Every kind of help is welcome, but people were mad reading that kind of shit and reading about boats coming once water is withdrawn in most areas. It reminds me of French military help to fight Austrians on Thessaloniki front when they sent useless artillery ammo ,with wrong caliber.

Yes it's true in some point, take a look at the dates of our news, than take a look at the dates of other big media news, they are late by 2 days.

The people who don't live in our country, who don't have others as friends on facebook, or twitter, in politic and relatives in flooded parts of our country can't clearly know what is happening, and can't judge about what they hear in media, because only 1/3 of reality is posted in news, and you don't get a chance to see photos and that were taken by people who live there.

Yes the countries around us and in EU zone sent us help but THAT'S NOT help from EUROPEAN UNION. I can remember about Montenegro, Macedonia, Slovenia, Germany, Netherland, France, Italy, even Croatia(which mostly hate us). Have sent help, but that's from their own initiative, not from EU. EU told yesterday that they will send help from their trust fond. You have to distinguish people from EU countries that sent help, and EUROPEAN UNION.

As he/she stated above, Russian help has come in friday already they were here. And they had to circle around and land in City of Nish, than drive 4 hours more to arrive at destination help, and that's just because Romanians refused to give them to fly above their country.

IMPORTANT NEWS THAT IS IN EMERGENCY BROADCAST ON OUR CHANNELS, IS THAT THERE'S NEW WAVE ARRIVING IN OBRENOVAC SO PEOPLE EVERYONE WHO CAN HELP LET'S HELP.

So you are basically saying that from some strange reason government asked for help from Russia before asking for help from neighbor countries that are few K killometers closer? Right?

But somehow, Russians managed to come all the way form Russia on the Friday night. I guess smoke signals are easier to see in Russia then in other countries.

First help from EU countries was from Slovenia. basically, because Serbians sent help there last time when there were some problems.

Go use trasnlation and check dates: http://www.rts.rs/page/stories/ci/st...%80%D0%B5.html

Aggressive and insulting once you are confronted with facts and all upon attacking me. Your superficiality is incredible. If I personally wrote above " Every kind of help is welcome " and " " I've pasted some photos above to avoid being understood bad "(Croats, Hungarians,etc..) then I can only guess you are having problems understanding what you are reading(even if my English is not perfect, it is fairly simple and you should try reading it again).

At the end, no one is obliged to help.

He is talking nonsense? I am pasting you below link from government meeting when help was asked and it was on 15th this month. Russians were here on 16th with full equipment and with delay because EU member was stopping them to come. I hope you know where is Russia and where is EU , right?

In case you think I am hacking and changing dates on sites, I will paste you one more link:

I will repeat once again: In moment while Russians were already on the field, EU told they didn't get any request. Simple as that (while Slovenians told they are coming soon).

Stating that help was on the way 36 hours after request was recieved, is just trying to make things look better. Except being slow and much closer then RU, EU told they didn't get any call for help (but somehow Slovenians and Russians did it).

That is all what I am talking about and I am not denying value of anyone help or trying to disparage. Just stating facts and that is that media coverage was low, EU didn't give a shit and reacted days later. (non eu members like montenegro,FYROM were faster then EU, too).
