QUESTION: What would you do if a well known Sponsor did this to you?
 

I realized over the weekend that a well known (and generally well regarded) sponsor owes me nearly $700. Haven't seen a payment from them in several months -- and since they're one of my low volume sponsors, they slipped off my radar.

So I politely contacted them and asked to be paid.

The rep responded and said that all affiliate accounts are now set at a minimum $1000 payout! :1orglaugh ...and then he promised that once I reach the new threshold I'll be paid.

(I fucking LOVE this fucking biz full of fucking lowlifes and scammers. :1orglaugh)

FWIW... My account says (and has always said) minimum payout $50.

So... What would YOU do?

[1] Pull the links and say fuck 'em?
[2] Continue to send traffic and hope they don't raise the minimum to $10,000?
[3] Run to GFY and smear their good name?

Pull the links and name them. Why not? They changed the rules without notifying you. Fuck em and feed em beans.

That's absurd. Out them. If they have any shred of decency left they'll come in and explain it off as a " misunderstanding" and you'll get paid. (Then pull all links)

$1000 minimum is fucking insane.

Out and collect. Only reason to raise min. To over $100 is to keep the majority of money as luquid cash in bank knowing they won't need to relieve themselves of that cash for some time to come. Also indicative of a program about to close shop.

Clearly I want to be paid. Right now. And I want to give these guys an opportunity to make it right. So I will withhold their name for now. We'll see how they choose to handle it.

This has happened to me many times, it is usually a sign of bad things to come. Not always but usually.

I agree with MetaMan, the only clear choice is to ask a bunch of part timers, morons and degenerates how you should run your business. As well all know, Bill Gates, Paul Allen, Steve Jobs, Michael Dell and many other technology titans live and die by the questions they ask and the timeless advice they receieve on digital point, warrior forum and 4chan

No, they're not about to close shop. They've been around forever. And they have some interesting new-ish programs.

Evidently they just don't give a shit about keeping 'smaller' affiliates.

It's ultimately their loss though... I was planning to switch one of my largest cam sites over to their cam property. Fuck that idea now. :1orglaugh

In all honesty, I guess it would depend. If it a sponsor that takes me a while to meet their minimum I would likely keep promoting until I had enough for a payout then try another and see if I had the same results, but could get paid more often.

If the sponsor was a good earner I would keep using them and just understand I won't be getting paid until I make $1,000. It sucks that they didn't tell you, but if they have otherwise been good, I wouldn't really care.

Hint: Perhaps this thread, and my thoughtful decision NOT to smear them publicly will incentivize them to do the right thing and pay me immediately.

This exactly. They have a pretty good reputation, and some high-conversion properties. And I would like to work with them, but if I can't trust them with small shit (like a reasonable minimum), there's no way I'll trust them with any real traffic.

You actually can't answer that question with any legitimacy. Those that close shop do suddenly and it surprises most.

So they have a cam platform... that limits the sponsor.

Truth is... if these guys are doing this to me, they will do it to others, and they will be exposed eventually.

but you are still giving the sponsor chance to collect even more money. they have raised limit from 50usd to 1000usd, and you are saying they are not going anywhere? how you can be that sure, if they are doing shitty things on the background? :2 cents: expose them and dont give them chance to steal more ... because this doesnt sound anything else than collect as much money as possible and run ... i would even bet, that if you make it to the 1000usd, you will have problems to collect the money anyway ... why to support someone who is playing shit with you? :2 cents: have luck anyway, right, you dont owe me nothing, but you could help others to not support a possible thieves ...

if someone wants to raise the limit to 1000, they have to pay what have been stated in tos when you signed up, so if they had 50 and decided to make it 1000, they have to pay everyone who is over the 50, and then make official statement that payouts are raised ... not like now, blocking who knows how much money ... this is bad :2 cents:

Just think how pissed you would be if you was new to the business and worked hard to get to such a threshold and then be told that the minimum is now 20 times the figure set in the terms. Really disappointing.

...Since he doesn't want to post any names and it's supposedly a well known sponsor, has anyone else noticed a payout minimum to $1000?.... I only know of one that high and has always been but DR Nights is kind of an exception. :upsidedow

If you wish to warn others it is your duty to name. If you just want your payment and they want their PR send them to this thread first. Someone else will pipe up and say it is happening to them too if they are a larger player.

It's good that you can afford to hold off - However, that sort of money could hurt others here - Name them so those people can make an informed decision now...

btw, not talking about their previous limit was 50, and you have sitting there 700, so they didnt paid you as they should have? name the sponsor man, then send them this thread, imho that is the only small chance to get your money from them ... :2 cents: or, just send them this thread, they will pay you to not post the name, and all other affiliates will be still fucked by them ... simply decission imho man ... :winkwink:
