Great movies most people haven't heard of?

I am tired of all the marvel and big blockbuster shit thats out all the time, whats the best movie you've watched lately that people may not have heard of?

Thanks

Not a new film but Run Lola Run

candyflip 05-18-2016 07:08 AM

Straight to VOD and Travolta, I was thinking that this one would suck ass.

It wasn't all that bad. Worth watching.

I liked this one - Wild Tales (Argentina, 2014)

Relatos salvajes (2014) - IMDb

NatalieK 05-18-2016 07:28 AM

I enjoy watching older movies like "the burbs", ""The hole", "attack on the block" & "Open Water" ....

but a new film some may not have seen would be "Get Hard" starring Will Ferrell :thumbsup

CaptainHowdy 05-18-2016 08:01 AM

On the other side of the superhero films is Tarantino's "Hateful Eight" ...

"The man who saved the world"
closest we came to accidental nuclear war, back in 1983. Half of US and USSR would be wiped out if not for a decision of one man back than.

"Doomsday Book" (South Korea, 2012)

great movie. somehow Run Lola Run together with Requiem For a Dream associate for me with another wild flick "Amores Perros"

Beside Run Lola Run, germans have some other cool movies, Knocking on a Heaven's door, I'm July, Das Experiment

That's hardly a great new concept.

Quine 05-18-2016 10:47 AM

That's not what makes it great. Every independent story in that movie is really interesting.

Sednub997 05-18-2016 10:52 AM

I enjoy watching i bit older movies 5 or 10 years ago. My favorite actor is Brett Pit

"Doomsday Book" (South Korea, 2012)

Sounds good. They mentioned that incident on "The Americans" last week.

"Old Boy" is good if you haven't seen it.

Maybe not an unknown movie, but worth a watch if you love an old fashioned horror movie.

Here's a couple of mind-benders

Thank you. Will check some of these out for sure. Keep em coming...

some blockbusters from the 90's were so damn entertaining. Action adventures full of humor without all the stupid superhero crap: It is possible.

One of my favourites is 'The long kiss goodnight', i watch this one again a year ago or so (after 10 years i think) and it's such a funny great ride, that movie is the definition of entertainment for me.

The Raid 1 & 2. Amazing fight scenes

Adzvertise 05-18-2016 03:51 PM

Watched several Jake Gyllenhaal movies recently. Southpaw & Prisoners are well worth watching.

ilnjscb 05-18-2016 04:34 PM

My recommendation is "The Young Visitors" has early Hugh Laurie, Jim Broadbent, early Bill Nighy before those guys were USA famous. Weird film but hilarious, and great to see those guys in non-standard roles.

I need to watch the butterfly effect

kane 05-18-2016 05:16 PM

Some recent movies I have seen and liked

The Revenant
Joy
Straight Outta Compton

This was great. Real Life is better than all these sci-fi, comic heroes, and fantasy stuff.

Sliding Doors by Pedro Almodovar
True Romance by Tarantino [early Tarantino, I like it as much as Pulp Fiction, and this movie is not-so-well-known by adorable]
La Haine by Mathieu Kassovitz [one of my top movies ever]
Imagine a School...Summerhill - for parents - I am pretty much into alternative education, especially because hungarian state schools are shit [both my daughters go to Waldorf school]
Across the Universe for Beatles fans
Stand by Me - childhood fav movie

The Magician - About a Melbourne Hit Man who makes people "Disappear"

"Melbournian hit-man Ray Shoesmith likes to debate with his victims such questions as Wayne Carey's moral culpability or whether or not Clint Eastwood appeared in The Dirty Dozen. We know this because he's being filmed by a documentary team, the footage to be released a la Pauline Hanson in the event of his early death."
