As i know you know, you have to be careful with everything going into your mouth. Cheese, eggs, meat (pork, chicken, beef, fish etc0 are always safe where the meat and eggs have a TRUE zero carb count.
With the massive rise in popularity in ketogenic eating, there is also a massive rise in "keto friendly recipes for..." which aren't keto friendly at all. Carb counts on labels rarely represent whats in the food. For example, you can look at a quart of Land o' lakes heavy cream and it says "0" carbs but in reality, it has like 3.4 grams per tablespoon. You can taste the lactose by just touching your tongue to it. The real question is more like "what can i do with eggs, meat and cheese?". Be careful not be baited into bad advice simply because people chose for no reason whatosoever to claim something is "keto friendly". Even if your goal is not weight loss, its still not a great idea to bounce in and out of ketosis if you spike your blood sugar or cause an insulin response. Our ancestors didn't have "great recipes". They had a weapon. They had meat. They had dried meat. They had fire. :) .... and for anyone with questions,... no, there were no vegetarians in our evolutionary history ... ever. |

What I can tell you for sure is that both the understanding of Keto and athletics and weight lifting are changing radically with so many recent studies. There is a guy on Bodybuilding.com who runs the sports science lab at the University of Tampa (i think) who puts out a lot of videos based on his studies of these exact questions. They're all interesting to watch and it again really drives home the point that "conventional wisdom is usually nothing more than pooled ignorance" as his findings in the lab completely contradict anything that people commonly believe. My personal view right now is that what you eat post workout will trump everything else through the day. Creatine is always great. BCAAs etc along with multi vitamins. Beyond that I don't sweat it too much. I've become more of a "listen to your body" kinda guy. Enough sleep. Enough water. Eating right after workout. (in ketosis you don't need to eat to "fuel" your workout). as Dr Timothy Noakes (Central Governor Theory of Muscular Fatigue...) once said "no one ever told the Lion when or what to eat ,or when and how much water to drink" :) |
It's not zero carb, but it is pretty low in carbs. I will get container of plain Greek yogurt and I will slice up 4-5 strawberries and stir into it. Depending on the brand of yogurt and number of strawberries, you can get somewhere in the 6-9g of carb range with that.
If you don't mind a few more carbs you can throw in some blackberries or raspberries as well. |
Found it... this guy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEXUfuVjxGI
he has some cool videos that are based on his own university lab experiments with athletes and ketogenic diets, their impact on athletic performance etc. it's pretty cool stuff to get into. |
There were some sites i used to use that gave you actual carb counts in processed foods. They get around a lot with labeling requirements and tricks... for example Pam cooking spray might say "0 calories per serving" but it should be obvious to even the most naive person that oil in any form or quantity is still nothing but fat.
I didn't realize what an issue this was with carbs in general on foods. So you have to be very careful. I can't find those sites - getting sick of sifting through all the "NET carb" crap. Most recipes that say "keto friendly" all over the web are most certainly not. |
I do a protein shake. About 8g of carb for 16 oz.
|
apple.. one full apple.. dunno how much carbs is that but i guess its low

I do a hard-boiled egg and black beans (yes, carbs.)
Thinking about switching to steak and eggs. That morning protein boost is wonderful. |

This in short is why sugar makes you fat. (though there is a great deal of individuality in a persons ability to process varying levels of carbs). Forgetting the physiology, his is why if you want to fatten a cow up or a pig, you feed them sugar and grain. The guidelines for fattening up cattle matches our own government dietary recommendations for people. and notice... they don't feed them "fat" to make them "fat". This has been the single greatest lie of our government today. And we have a multi billion dollar medical, pharma, diet and food industries all of which have a vested interest in perpetuating this myth which the developed world followed and caused a world wide epidemic of obesity and countless diseases related to a high carb diet. https://www.uaex.edu/4h-youth/activi...i delines.pdf One man alone who cheated a study - looked at 22 countries for correlation between heart disease and high fat diets to demonstrate fat causes hear disease.... removed 16 countries that didn't support his desired conclusion. That man is Ansel Keyes. It was his testimony to a Senate Committee ALONE which forms the basis for the dietary guidelines recommending less fats. Those guidelines were drafted by a labor reporter for a newspaper who has NO background in nutrition or anything else vaguely related. Oh... and he was a vegetarian... happily drafting guidelines to eat less fat which meant at the time, "less meat" and "less animals". and here we are. Almost a century later wrestling with spiraling health problems and only now, starting to understand the incredible harm sugar and grains in a diet cause. |

Try a orange..

Why do you do low carb? I eat rice and potatoes every day and I'm ripped.
Keto is for suckers unless you have some medical condition which makes it hard to process carbs. Calories in/Calories out. End of story. |

sure thing hanz & franz. why do you give a shit why I asked for low carb breakfast ideas? why do you assume this is about keto? heads up: 1. keto is no carbs, not low carb. 2. Im currently sedentary due to an injury, I don't need carbs. 3. I'm type 1 diabetic. If you understood nutrition you'd understand the relationship between carbs and insulin. |

I suspected you'd hate doctors because of your untreated, or unmedicated, manic & paranoid conspiracy episodes, so I looked to see what your 5 fake alt-right nics said. Amazingly, they (you) all hate doctors. No surprise. Don't get a boner thinking I always read your replies princess. Sometimes I give you a chance and you tend to disappoint. The hate in you runs deep and untethered. |
I appreciate the reply!
