A federal judge in California ruled against the Trump administration on Friday in two different cases, ultimately preventing $2.5 billion in federal funds from being used for a border wall in portions of California, New Mexico, Texas and Arizona.

We already did this. In 2006 we spent $2.3 billion dollars on fencing, protecting 700 miles of fencing. It's like pouring money down a bottomless pit. The vast majority of people entering the country illegally are doing so through the ports of entry. If not... they go over, under, around, or through fencing and walls.

It's not that I am "anti-American"... I just see no reason to spend billions of dollars when it will accomplish nothing. We already spent billions of dollars, and now we have to spend billions more to house the people that came over, under, around, or through the 700 miles plus of border fencing we put up.

I love you brother, but allowing that many people in illegally isn’t good for anyone. I am not saying we need to be allowing people in. I am saying that pouring more billions into a solution that isn't working isn't a proper solution. A lot of people seem to think "If we build a wall that will stop them" and that obviously isn't the case. We've spent billions building walls and it hasn't stopped them. They are walking up to border entry points and saying "I am seeking asylum" and we legally obligated to accept them.

We didn't have these problems under Obama. People weren't coming to the United States in droves under Obama, and when we caught them here illegally we either gave them options to become American citizens or deported them. Under Obama we deported more people than ever before. The problem isn't that we don't have walls; The problem is how the Trump administration has handled everything. Long before we build a wall we need a comprehensive and legal plan on how to manage this. Building "internment camps" is not a short or long term solution.

I completely disagree with you when you say "Diversity isn’t our strength". Diversity is what makes America what it is. For better or for worse, we are in fact a nation of immigrants. We always have been, and always will be. I am Polish and Irish; Both of my parents came here as immigrants. Diversity is our strength.

Illegal immigration under Obama dropped. In 2015, illegal immigration had dropped to 2008 levels. Illegal immigration was falling, while deportations were up. Obama deported more illegal immigrants than any other president.

Suddenly Trump comes into office, beating his chest, talking about his fucking wall, and how he was going to stop people from coming.... So all of the people who thinking about coming here illegally said "It's now or never" and now they are coming. The Trump administration is has no plan to handle this.

We had no crisis under Obama. Less people were coming, more people were being deported, and we didn't have a crisis at the border.

Now we have more people coming over, less people being deported, we are locking people up in cages like animals, we are removing children from their parents never to be seen again, and our immigration system is completely overwhelmed.

This is disgusting, evil, and vile. It's un-American. Coming to the United States illegally is a misdemeanor. We are taking people who are not American citizens who have committed a misdemeanor and locking them up "until further notice" and denying them fucking toothbrushes.

My grandmother came to the United States as a teenager at the close of WWII. She came from Poland and didn't speak a lick of English. She died at age 89 still speaking broken English.

My step father came from Belgium, again when he came here as a teen he didn't speak any English at all. Sixty years later he still speaks more French than English. When he gets excited or upset, he spits out French - his native language.
