Which service providers don't you tip?



I'll start:



Package delivery folk

Medical office staff

Coffee shop staff in coffee shops where you have to go up to the counter to pick up your drink

Gas station attendant

True Story - One of my first times stateside, & I'm part of 'The Tampa Shows Caravan Of Stars' - We are all getting ferried around to different clubs and venues etc, where the public can meet the girls and get autographs etc...

So we all go in the back way to this club, and find ourselves in the VIP room - Away from the general public. Well this girl comes up and asks if I'd like a beer, so I said 'sure, why not?'

Off she goes then reappears 5 mins later and hands me a small bottle of beer, and says $10 please. So I hand her $10, say thankyou, and she gives me the most filthy fucking look I've ever had from someone in the service industry! Then she fucks off!

Well, I didn't know I was supposed to tip her! I had zero fucking idea! I had only been in the US for about 24 hours! How was I to know? &, believe it or not, I still feel kinda bad about that even now - I shouldn't, as it wasn't my fault, however I do...

So after that, in the states, I always added a tip, as it was 'expected' - But I never tip in the UK, as its not...

Dispensary.
Doughnut shops.

Don't worry non-Americans.

We can't figure it out either.

I don't want to pay that tax either.
Some advertise prices without tax.

I try not to tip 2 weeks in the USA.
Nobody giving me free money also.

They could ask their boss for more money, or Biden for lower taxes.

Does the 20 dollar tip work in vegas, i want a room with view of The Sphere.
That could be worth it.

Think i can't do without tipping 2 weeks.

The police . . .

I gave at least 3 tips to the police, in Thailand, Brazil and Mexico.
Was less than a fine :)

I wanted to tip the police when they pulled me over cause he was friendly.
The US police officer agreed to take a picture with me in front of his American police car.
But I just had to pay the fine by mail.

Want a tip? Here's one:

I tip pretty much everyone, the currency here is so low compared to USD or CAD and if I end up with too many $10 and $20 coins I end up giving them away anyway cuz they get heavy to carry around

the ones I do end up with I give to the kids to buy smarties, for good grades and helping their parents in the yard/around the house. all the children here are obsessed with smarties

people work hard and I want to contribute to my neighbourhood in every way I can. 'keep the change' is super-easy. requires zero effort on my part. and like I'm gonna buy a pack of cigs with twenty $50 bills

I don't tip cashiers in a drug store, computer shop where I scan stuff, grocery store but I do tip the young dudes and ladies who bag my purchases as I'm cashing out cuz they work on tips. don't tip the maintenance man unless he does something outside of fixing a tap or something, as in a personal favour

I think 'enforced tipping' is wrong and speaks to corps trying to lower wages at the expense/on the backs of their business patrons. and no one should have to rely on tips at an hourly/salaried job to make their full income, so ethically wrong on both ends

Anybody with kids knows you can trick them into doing all kinds of things for you for free it's like they are little slaves. I have mine make me all my food and coffee therefore I never need to tip anybody.

in Thailand i tip almost everyone. including package delivery, market vendors, coffee girls, bellhops, contractors, auto mechanics, gardeners, happy ending artists, i even tipped our doctor $500 when our kid was born.. i don't tip at corporate checkout counters where there's no tip jar, like grocery store, malls, and fast food...

in the US i usually only tip at restaurants or hotels.

Tips are nothing but a form of bribery and a way for scumbag employers (aka employers) to pay less. You should always tip, however, when visiting a third world country, such as the USA, and where someone can spit in your food.

Boy they really go the extra mile on happy endings there.

I tend to tip where it's expected.

At a restaurant where there is staff to bring food to my table and refill drinks, the food delivery people, the guy that takes my stuff to the hotel room, the guys at the airport that take my bags at the curb, the usher that shows me to my seat at shows... a little tip gets a better seat in most cases. If someone at a grocery store or a place like Home Depot or Best Buy helps me with my stuff to my car, I'll tip them as well. And I always tip the valet when picking up my car, but not when dropping it off.

I don't tip people that just operate a cash register and set my stuff on the counter. Do you tip the person at McDonalds that takes your order and just hands it to you? I don't.

And the strippers, they get tips. Las Vegas has some of the best strippers in the world.

It's Republicans who block raising minimum wage and it's Republicans under Trump who lowered taxes for the top 5% incomes - but not for low incomes. Which they also successfully blocked.

We could cancel the restaurants that don't mention an all-in price with tax and a normal wage.
Their owners just want to publish a low price and than fuck you with the extra tax and expected tip.

On the other way, it is the American way that tipping culture.
For sure they want to keep the tips after a higher wage or some give you bad look.

In Holland you get paid more now than minimum wage in hotels, bars restaurants.
Many restaurants, bars, hotels now have people that only speak English.

That must get them to the 15 usd an hour. Same as for people who don't have a tip-job or spit in your food.

'may I have the salad but hold everything but the lettuce, cucumber, onions and tomato. no dressing, just douse it with pepper. and a glass of grapefruit juice please'. the latter not a drink option, but it's in mixed drinks so they obv have grapefruit juice. in Jamaican road stop spots substitute that with iced lime water (again, not on the menu). and they make way less than 30k

'sure, no problem'. boom, done. I have a nice meal without any fuss or muss and she gets paid a lil extra for my PITAness. though I'd tip the same even if I ordered straight off the menu


you admitted that you don't tip. with weight and hair colour as excuse

maybe you'd have a right to be cross if you made less than 30k per year shlepping food and drinks and being pleasant to people like yourself, who don't have any respect for the service provided
