How much do you read?

educationally wise? gfy doesn't count. how often to you pop the top on a new set of dried tree mush and read the ink on it?

i say this because i just got a new marketing book and i realized that although i do a ton of reading online, researching, learning, etc, i don't crack the books as much as i used to.

what did you read last?

recreationally?

for work etc?

BV 12-27-2005 03:42 PM

i have not read a real book since college over 20 years ago.

but i do watch a lot of educational programming as well as read a lot of trade magazines and periodicals, and of course the interweb

gornyhuy 12-27-2005 03:45 PM

I read fiction all the time, almost every night before bed... and I read marketing/computer/engineering/programming books occasionally, more as a reference, I also read various martial arts/excercize/philosophy books occasionally.

been sacrificing sleep for reading since I was a kid.

Brandon99 12-27-2005 04:49 PM

Last book I finished was Angels and Demons. I'm about to start on The DaVinci Code. I would like to finish it before the movie comes out. :thumbsup

LittleMack 12-27-2005 04:52 PM

slapass 12-27-2005 04:59 PM

tristan_D 12-27-2005 05:18 PM

I always read the morning papers and I try to check out the book store every month for some new novels.

2HousePlague 12-27-2005 05:21 PM

I write more than I read. I read mostly when I shit, which is when you might say I "consume" all my literature -- and then it's usually Academic, Theoretical or trans-genre stuff like Castaneda.

BigCashCrew 12-27-2005 05:25 PM

I try to read history an hour a day. If it's not history, it is something that will teach me something new and interesting.

Fizzgig 12-27-2005 05:27 PM

I stopped reading recreationally 2 kids ago. I plan to start up again when the first ones move out. :)

cool1 12-27-2005 06:00 PM

I read all the time I am not online or sleeping.
right now I am reading 2 older SFI books "The Race For God - Brian Herbert" and "Rizza And Tregare 3 part saga - part 2".

uno 12-27-2005 06:06 PM

I think the last recreational book I read was Contortionist's Handbook

The author of Fight Club has a quote on the jacket saying it was his favorite book in 5 to 10 years. Really great and twisted.

reynold 12-27-2005 06:16 PM

The last time I remembered reading a book was when my cousin brought home an Ayn Rand book and forgot it upon leaving..

I read all the time. I read multiple books at the same time. I have reading: Iceburg by Clive Cussler. Also: The rise and Fall of Adolph Hitler. Also: The Cival war books. 3 of them on book 1 right now. Also: Op's Center

Once I get the rest of the Harry Potter books, I will read them as well.

shermo 12-27-2005 06:23 PM

Aside from magazines... Never.

seeric 12-27-2005 06:24 PM

i need to get angels and demons.

theres also a book that i want to get the disspells heaven and hell. explains all the "why they don't exist" things.

that'd be a good read.

Vitasoy 12-27-2005 07:10 PM

I read up on a lot of news, but I haven't hit the books.

american pervert 12-27-2005 07:17 PM

I get 1 weekly mag in the mail, national review, and I read about 2-3 books a month, more depending on how much I travel. if I"m flying around I can easily read half a book per flight if not an entire book depending on where I am going.

american pervert 12-27-2005 07:18 PM

oh, and I stick to reading non fiction. once in a while I will read a fiction book but not that often.

aimeesweet 12-27-2005 07:30 PM

I read constantly, and now that I have an e-book reader on my PSP, I don't use "real" books any more. It's nice to have a crapload of books in your pocket.

seeric 12-27-2005 09:06 PM

thats true matt.

i need to get that. newsgroups are full of em

WonderWoman 12-27-2005 09:08 PM

I have become so bad on the reading in the last 5-6 years. I have turned to audio books as a second best solution but I am so embarrassed to say that I don't read.

I do a lot of my reading and educational stuff online and on tv. Internet has saved many trees perhaps.

viki 12-27-2005 09:11 PM

I go through reading spurts where I'll read every night for a month or so, then I drop the habit for about three months.

Wiggles 12-27-2005 09:20 PM
