Opus 2001 or 2002

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 01-23-2006 01:54 AM

Opus One or Stags Leap Cabernet will run you $100+ a bottle, and should satisfy even the most discerning palate - buy 3 bottles and go crazy!!!

its like cristal, everyone knows it, but 99% wouldnt tell cristal from a 10 dollar methode champagnoise

its easy just start drinking wines like everyone else, get a few $5 ones, different regions and countries and pick what you like. Ive got $5 supermarket wines here I drink on a regular basis, soon youll see a winecard and know what you like and what you dont and what fits with what.

But theres nothing like a wrong wine with a wrong dish imho, some ppl drink sweet white wine with steak, hey if you like it you like it...

Try to find an 89 Chateau Musar.

Anthony 01-23-2006 04:15 AM

I'm pretty partial to Chateau Latour 96, an excellent wine. You can find it online for about 250.00 and up.

there are a lot better ones then the standard lafite etc

Ive got sweet wine here thats absofuckinglutely amazing. Forget all the others, this is an icewine, I gave the link to another guy here as well, $40-50 for a 375ml, theyve got so many prizes they had to put the labels on the back of the bottle too lol

if you wanna dine at home with any girl, serve this one together with a nice choclate dessert and she will melt.

Its pure nectar.

I am writing these down I am going to check the local liquor stores first and if I can't get them I will order em online. To bad there wasn't an affilate program. People would make $ selling wine

MacDaddyPlaya 01-23-2006 02:48 PM

If you like Cab I think you will love this. Far Niente it is my favorite:

my gf likes really sweet ones, so we drink a lot of sauternes etc, anything from cheapass 5 bucks to icewines over a 100 (icewines are german wines where the grapes are picked when theyve got the biggest amount of sugar in them and when theyre frozen - theyre gifts to a couple getting married, old tradition in germany, every weingut has a few 100 only)

Anselmann is the best really, try to get it, I know its in the US as well. Its so damn good, you just wanna put the bottle on the table and poor it over icecream, in coffee or drink it all at once. Id doesnt have that nasty spicey taste to it like the french desertwines have.

DutchTeenCash 01-23-2006 02:52 PM

canadian but I know its in the US too

1983 Chateau Lafite Rothschild is much better if you can get your hands on it! :)

1996 Moet et Chandon is a better year

Plump Jack is phenomenal if you can find it! :thumbsup

Sassicaia, Salaia, are yummy as well...I could go on for days about wines!

Opus One is overrated IMO.

You want a winning cabernet. Caymus wins all the time.

1997 Caymus Cabernet if you can find it. Its still less than $300.

WonderWoman 01-23-2006 03:22 PM

Ah yes.. and throw in a bottle of Ferrari Cerrano Black Muscat for dessert. YUMMY!!

KMR Stitch 01-23-2006 03:56 PM

Ok, Icewines. Anyone have anymore info on that? how to pick out a true icewine?

suddenly realise that you dont know the german winesystem... theyve got a pradikat system meaning it ranges from low to high quality from say landwine to the best there is

this trockenbeerenauslese (meaning dry grape - auslese means actually the best but its used as a term to tell ppl its very sweet too) is the best anselmann is very famous and all the prizes theyve got really tells something

cause like france germany has 1000s and 1000s of weinguter (companies or ppl who produce wein)

http://www.germanwine.de/english/gui...winelabels.htm

http://www.cs.utexas.edu/users/walte...itz-ritter.gif

thats a riesling its a grape variety famous, spaetlese means its sweet, its

spaetlese
auslese
beerenauslese
trockenbeerenauslese

(from sweet to sweetest) see the anselmann is the sweetest and icewine too

You guys are killing me LOL! Look I'll agree with you that Cristal is way overrated but its a hell of a lot better and impressive than Asti :1orglaugh

And remember he was looking in a particular price range... in that range chateau lafite is rated in the 90's...not many wines in that league :winkwink:
