This is so he can say his income potential is currently only $7.49/hr in the divorse. He'll get the beter job when all the paper work is finished. I'm sure not $750K/year, but maybe he can at least move up to bank teller at $20/hr

if he was smart, he would invest a little bit, set up a trust fund for his kids, and put a few hundred K in CD's. The interesest youd get from just half mil in one year is enough to live off of.

Do you know how interest works and how much interest 500,000.00 would get you per year in interest if you were pulling out all of the interest to live on?

I doubt he has any serious regrets about his house and former lifestyle. He seemed to have been living well within his means when he was employed as a stock broker. If you can afford to live well, why not do so. But I'm sure he's kicking himself for taking the gamble to go out on his own.

No sympathy for this guy. If you're making $100,000's of dollars a year for many years you should have saved so much money that you wouldn't have to work anymore if you didn't want to. His hedge fund goes down, so what. He should have a million dollars sitting in savings to support him and his family. He spent his money instead of saving at least some of it.
