Actually a pretty well known soup, even in the US for some time. Unless you have never lived anywhere near immigrants. Plus you would have to avoid nearly every large cookbook or even Martha Stewart type show.

I see you like to visit Olive Garden :)

If I had to nail it down to one it would have to be Portuguese linguica and bean soup. Now that summer is pretty much over and chill is starting to hit.

Come warm times either a tomato consume or some proper Spanish gazpacho.

Honestly very few restaurants can make it the way I like, but French Onion Soup. Only one stands out in Vegas where they use various onions and it comes served in a massive onion with the best taste I ever had. I wish I remember where it was as I was taken out by a friend but I would say that is my favorite.

There is a place on the Oregon Coast called The Fireside Inn that makes the best clam chowder I have ever had. I drive over there a couple of times a year just for that. So I would have to say that their clam chowder is my favorite soup

CaptainHowdy 10-11-2009 05:03 PM

Tomato soup too...

A good creamy mushroom soup usually hits the spot, but so does a thick split pea.
