I just read that it is one of 3 leaks. I don't know which it is.

It sounds bad. The oil is doing some damage to rocks and birds and animals.

The birds that land in the oiled water get completely covered in oil and they die faster because of that. Oil has a property of staying above the water level and oil does not mix with water. Oil does not dissolve in water.

This is going to impact us way above and beyond what we perceive. It's obvious that offshore drilling is not something we are capable of handling. Personally, I think there are so many better forms of fuels, and energy producing materials. Drilling for oil and continuing to utilize it as our main source of power is barbaric and antiquated. :321GFY

BP are pricks in general for trying to get us to believe only 5k barrels a day are coming out of that motherfuck. It's gotta be much more than that.

I was born in st. bernard parish where the oil is washing ashore. Its very profitable living in an oil area!

So far I've gotten a 700 dollar check from the Katrina Oil Spill Disaster, another 700 bucks from an explosion at the refinery, another 700 bucks from another explosion that happened. I also have a court date in July from the time in 1998 when they accidently put gas in the tapwater! That'll be another 1000 this summer! Who knows what we'll get for this huge disaster! 700-1000??? probably less!

Well, I thought about that too, but we don't really know all the shores it may hit. I don't know how many man made islands there are out there like Galveston. Is it inconceivable that the spill would hit TX?

Those oil CEO's are very well protected. I used to work in a building where Texaco had a corporate support office that the CEO would visit every few months.

It seemed like he had better security than the President. There was an advance team, they shut down the floor (Texaco only had 2 or 3 floors of the high rise) the CEO would be on and they took other measures.

Over the past few days I finally began to realize why oil executives are so hated.

They used to have to worry about environmentalists. Now they have to worry about people that are losing the livelihood.

Man I hope they get a handle on this quickly,should be a big wake up call for the offshore drilling,but no precautions will happen,business as usual

Those pictures are absolutely awful. Seeing the birds covered and can barely move because of the oil is just heartbreaking.

It's just sad how much this is affecting the local wildlife and the fisherman, off course it's not going to be something that just gets cleaned up over the weekend it will take months on end, if not years.

Oil does naturally seep from the ocean floor but not at this rate!
