Switzerland is socialism? For a country smaller than the size of Oregon to dominate the financial world for decades as they have I'd say they did pretty damn well for being socialists.

Classic. Where did the OP say (or imply) he should have been let go? He should of been fined the same amount as anyone else. |

186mph!
Fuck him. It's not like he was "slightly" over the limit. Obviously thought he was above the law in his flashy car. Not so flashy now... |
I think NetHorse's Socialism comment was referring to the fact that Switzerland is a Federal republic which ensures the availability of social security, health care, housing and general monetary benefits to its citizens. So much so that its apart of the Swiss Federal Constitution under Fundamental Rights, Civil Rights and Social Goals as a county.
In simpleton speak its a socialized government, its been this way since 1874 and surprised more people here didn't know that. Austria, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Holland, Iceland, Greenland are also socialized government's but not all of those Federal Constitutions ensure those same rights as Switzerland. |
he knew the consequences when he mashed the gas pedal and they will never be the same.
going 186mph through multiple speed traps in a country that tickets speeders according to income. |
LOL Switzerland socialist, probably the most capitalist country in Europe bar Monaco.

So you should either suck it up or "get the fuck out"? How dare one point out the fairness of a law right? I'll remember that when you post your next (hundred) threads regarding The Man fucking over the little guy. 186 mph is ridiculous and he should be thrown in jail. But basing the ticket on your income is ridiculous. |

I'm not saying he shouldnt pay the fine. He knew the law, he broke the law. I'm saying the law is fucked up. |

Here's an idea. Let the judge present him with an option. This is not uncommon. He could choose between the million dollar fine, or 20 years in the can. Either choice should include him losing his driving privileges and vehicle, for life.

Pricing a ticket based on income is a bs way of doing it... maybe if there were some cap it would make some sense, but come on, a million dollar ticket? What if bill gates was caught doing the same? he would pay 10 million? :1orglaugh

Where did I say it should of been $50? 186mph should be jail and car impounded. What I'm saying is basing the amount of the fine on the drivers income isnt right. Is the poor persons car any less of a lethal weapon than the rich persons car? What's next? Basing food prices on income? For a poor person that burger is $1. For the rich guy its $25? How about gas? Poor/$1 gallon - Rich/$20 etc. |
It's easy to point fingers in this case "that fool was driving 100 miles over the limit, he knew what was coming, he should be sent to jail, bluh bluh"...
but what if you go over lets say 10 miles per hour? very easy to do unintentionally.... the guy would pay 100k fine in that case? that's fucked up... |
Quote:
Puhlease. If that were the option provided you would be the first one in here bitching. Saying that the poor person couldnt afford the fine and would rot in jail while the rich bad man could buy his freedom. But I agree, going 186 should get driving privileges revoked. |

If a lazy poor person goes 186mph he should be punished the same as a successful one. Cry "stupid American Republican" all you want. Smoke another bowl and sit on your ass all day lazy hippies! |

so you're saying the price for being rich AND have health, education, housing and so on for free is not driving at 186mph? Damn, where do I signup? On a side note, if Gouge says what he said in front of an audience with a slight knowledge of economics and politics the laughter would be heard from the Moon! Of course, for you such lack of truth and accuracy is "smart" :1orglaugh |
another interesting choice of wedge issue rhetoric from the palin-americans. i wonder where the original poster got the idea.
in this one they appear to be arguing against the idea of the rule of law and the rights that a sovereign country has to pass and enforce the laws that they choose. i wonder how well this will sell among the baggers? not well i think, but it's hard to tell what the tea party will decide to support, they have no policy, so they might do anything. |
Awwwwrrr those commie bastards!!!

Some of you morons don't even understand the difference between socialism and communism. Hahaha

Penalties should be based on income. For someone that's poor and living paycheck to paycheck to survice, for example let's say a ticket of $180, can be devastating. Whereas someone who is wealthy, that type of ticket is a joke. There's virtually no accountability for rich...
Spanx! Jack |
Gouge, you're wasting your time, he's not capable of something as simple as reading comprehension.

As for TheDemon, what can I say... he's the clown everybody laughs and point fingers as the dumbest person in Earth, to be honest I tend to feel pity for him and how everybody laughs at him, so if TheDemon backs your POV, then you should be really worried btw, just in case, here's some common definitions of socialism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialism http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/socialism http://www.econlib.org/library/Enc/Socialism.html (here you have an ultra-right vision so you can't complain other sources are too "leftist") http://www.answers.com/topic/socialism if you can find a slight resemblance of the definition of socialism and Switzerland government, please let me know it. Again, I'm extremely curious and I'm always willing to learn something new Just in case, before you go further, are you sure you're not confusing socialism with WELFARE STATE? take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welfare_state and you'll see Switzerland mentioned there, while I couldn't find anything related to Switzerland and Socialism ANYWHERE. Just face up you fucked up and told some non-sense in your effort to back 2 ignorant individuals like Nethorse and everybody's clown OR let me know how did you get the strange idea that Switzerland (commonly known as one of the symbols of capitalism) is slightly connected to socialism :helpme |
