certifiedhosting is BAD

They said I overloaded the cpu, but I have sites with little traffic, I only have 30k day, now they gave me a final warning for me to remove my sites, or are going to put offline.

This hosting is ridiculous.

I have no knowledge of the exact situation, but you could have a bad script or plugin that could cause cpu load.
I had a bad plugin cause that exact situation on another host. removed the plugin, and all was good.

30k/day is enough to load off a CPU depending on your script. it is most likely 100% you.

agreed, 30k / day is enough so that he's probably the main user of the CPU

What scripts are you using? What type of hosting is it? I'd say it's probably your scripts that are causing the problem.

More often than not it's the case.

Someone thinks for $8.00 they have a full blown dedi, it's resources, & support, at their disposal.

That's because they see "unlimited" and actually think that's what they'll get (which is both a fault of the host for false advertising and the customer for being an idiot)...

I have to say certified hosting is the best host I ever had, and I am the type that whines and bitches a lot Kacy can attest to that. So if they can put up with me for as a long as they have then they must be doing something right. 30k a day can be a lot of users in a shared environment unless you?re just sending them to static pages.

It sounds like the smartest thing you could do is open another cheap shared account at another host and move about half your sites to that account.

True but an entry level managed server is going to cost what $150 -$200 a month vs. $10x2 for 2 virtual accounts plus a lot of people are running specials if you pre-pay for a year or two you get a substantial discount. It?s better for SEO too.

Well, you get what you pay for. Btw, I fail to see how a shared host is better for seo than a dedicated server...

were you running wordpress with plugins?

some things can be a resource hog, and 30k a day traffic is not small, especially if they are all doing database calls

are you on the $10/year hosting deal?

sounds like you are expecting way too much

Man up and get a dedicated server. You have way more than enough traffic to warrant it.

My experience with Certified/Naked (one of my top three favorite hosts, the other two being Reflected and Mojo) has been the complete opposite, but I also do not rely on shared hosting for a 30k a day site.

This hosting is ridiculous.

Get yourself a VPS... and if you get in with someone like ProHosters, it's very simple for them to upgrade you to more resources/plans when needed.. Order it and it's seemless.. I think they can even move you to one of their dedicated servers from the VPS seemlessly.

Sounds that way to me as well. But he says 30k a day. Is that 30k visitors a day or 30k hits? Huge difference between the two.

There is tons of host with unlimited bandwidth and unlimited space, but it's no use since they will kill account as soon sites start to consume more cpu.

Never had a problem with certified hosting. Great support, great servers, no downtime. Sounds like you need a dedicated server instead of expecting to run a 30k a day site on a small shared account.

I'm using Tubex and tradeexpert.

I got this message:

From this point, the following options are available:

1) Block heavy users of your site, if any, that may be causing excessive load within 24 hours.
2) Optimize scripts (php, etc) that may be consuming a large amount of CPU or RAM within 24 hours
3) Upgrade to a Managed Dedicated server; your site may have outgrown a shared environment. Within 24 hours
4) Seek service from another provider within 24 hours.

I have another site with the same traffic, with the same scripts in http://interserver.net and never had problems.

The problem is certifiedhosting, they only support small sites.

I actually have not received your ticket ID still, doesn't seem like you want to provide it. I can take an educated guess on your ticket since we have no other final warnings pending in that department right now. If this is your account, then we have been sending warnings for months now and most recently yes, a final warning. I am sorry, but it does appear you have outgrown shared hosting.

Our hosting is not bad; it's very good for what we offer at the low price point. We make every effort to work with our clients and provide adequate warnings if there is an issue. I am sorry to hear you are unhappy. Best of luck at your other/new provider.

I've had a mixed experience with Certified - some very good and some pretty bad (but sorted in the end).
But for any host you always have to read the small print and Certified make it clearer than many hosts what they mean by 'unlimited' and what they consider unacceptable use.

And it's pretty obvious that if you overload any shared server with heavy scripts coupled with 30k a day traffic, you're going to run into problems and need to upgrade.
This isn't rocket science.

I wouldn't be using an unlimited host for a 30K site.

Agreed. In their defense they hint at it:

Let us be front up with you though....We are not going to make you sift through our terms to figure out where the catch is. We have it right here in plain view so there is no misunderstandings. Great communication is key in a relationship. So, here is the deal.....if your site isn't well optimized and is causing issues for others on your shared server (either because it's abusing the CPU, hoarding up RAM, or doing loads of disk I/O), you could be in danger of account suspension.

Anyone who is not a new webmaster should know the deal.

And I see they have some weird protection deal too.
