As to why many still use popunders, it is still an effective promo tool option. The user experience is not affected (popunders do not interfere with the site/content the user originally intended to view), users only see the offer once they have closed the site they were originally viewing.

Not everyone is promoting AWE, to tell the truth I think that many are not promoting AWE and yeah, there is a reason for that too.

It has already been answered hasn't it? The majority are likely pre-paid buys by AWE (they buy X number of popups).

As others have mentioned, they likely pay the most, which explains why EVERYONE is using them.

So for the webmasters, they don't make a commission off of the popups. They have already been paid by AWE for the popup traffic. Thus they don't need to worry about conversions, they already made their money off of the sale.

If they didn't, I doubt AWE would continue to buy the popups.

They make additional sales, increase their traffic dramatically, brings users back to their site who had forgotten about it, helps to place them as the "most visited cam site online", among other things.

For a webmaster who was thinking of using them as a popup for a commission on sales however, I would either use a different landing page than all the tubes are using, or push another sponsor. As you can tell that popup is highly saturated.

And no it hasnt been answered. My question was: Why does everyone pop up AWE.

Mickey stating that no cookies are set when a pop happens, is not an answer to my question

Actually don't you mean that they aren't setting the one particular cookie commonly associated with your normal affiliate program? From what I recently saw they were setting cookies without clicks, just not the same one used by most affiliates. Splitting hairs but could be significant depending on what your system does with all those cookies. You should consider clearly detailing this somewhere. I'm not saying you're doing this but only that it is possible. Couldn't you in theory design the system to give the popunder cookies priority over the normal affiliate cookies? Thus it would be good to state affirmatively that this is not being done. Absent such a statement from your company any assumptions that you are not doing this is just that -- an assumption. Just because it isn't the same cookie does not necessarily mean it isn't significant as far as how credit for sales is allocated depending on how your software is coded.

I don't see what the big conspiracy is.

I've tried many cam programs and AWE is the only one that converts for me ... and guess where I make the most money? POP-UNDERS! The conversion rate for pop-unders isn't great, but it's blind traffic and when there are so many pops the money ads up.

I wouldn't use AWE pop-unders if they didn't make me money, or if another cam program made me more money.

I think AWE sites look shitty but they convert. I'd love to pop to better looking sites but my business model isn't based on aesthetics.

I've also studied my traffic to make sure that the pop-unders didn't scare people away and the % of bookmarker traffic has remained consistent.

I can't edit it but I am referring to the prepaid pop under programs. For example those on popular pirate tube sites.

Yes.. Everyone is doing it like crazy for one reason and one reason only... Cookie stuffing. AWE has set things up where it's highly benificial to get your own id set in the cookie etc. The only time you see this sort of craziness is when it's some malicious download or, as in this case, everyone wants to stuff that cookie... I've never seen it like this before where sites have things set up so that you click absolutely anything on the site and it's popping LiveJasmin before you can do anything else.

AWE / LiveJasmin does indeed buy a lot of popunders. They have some very professional and friendly media buyers who handles this, almost exclusively based on Google Analytics numbers showing traffic and geographical mix.

Pre-paid deals are very easy, they pay out to youup front, send you a javascript for placement on your webpage and setup a unique campaign name for your site. Then if your site send sales during your first test month, they will contract and pay out for another month and so on. If you have a site which does fairly normal with signups, it can be a way of having part of your income secured ahead of time. Nothing wrong in that, and since they keep on buying, it somehow must make them money back, last time I checked, they sure enough wasn't a charity organization doing hand outs.

Im not trying to take a stab at AWE.

I think they have done great for themselves, good on em.

But i feel if it IS a case of cookie stuffing, they are ripping alot of webmasters off.

For example my little sales page, which only sells livejasmine has not made any sales. 1:16,000 from webcam and SE hits.

I am thinking thats becuase everyone has been cookied before they come to my site.

So what would be happening there - is I sell them with MY sales page - and becuase some big tube site with stolen content has popped up everyone they get the sales.

Sounds like fuckin bullshit if you ask me.

But i cant prove it, so what can ya do huh.

Was just trying to find an answer as to why else would people be popping it up.

So far the best answer is - AWE buys all the pops themselves?

lol its funny you say that agent 488 - i was just asking in another thread - if your some sort of posting bot - because you post little short remarks with no substance at all, but you also come back to the same thread multiple times and make contradicting statements like one after another, or irrelevant remarks.

So yes i hope we leave this thread as it is, would be good if this was the last statement made in it

Bingo. That's basically what I was wondering. Depends on how their system actually reads the cookies.

because the amount of signups they get credited to themself by the cookies are a hell of alot.... think when a big part of surfers on tube sites (note: the biggest porn sites in the world) put 1 click in their pop up or under, and when another wm makes the sale, they get credited... because the biggest free porn sites are infested with them.. when they'd kill the cookie method, they would need to shave a hell of alot to get the same "own" sale amount.... this is a legal and effective way for them to get the sale credit, and not the final sale webmaster, and it's right in their TOS... but even though they have this construction there is still $ to be made with the 222 pps.... and when you create your own WL you get credited for all your sales. And eventually i will only be sending traffic to my whitelabel.

1) the cookies don't overwrite each other. Easily confirmed and something ive checked 9038329048324 times

2) PPS cookies last a month - REVS cookies last 7 days

3) the affiliate id for AWE bought popunders starts with "ED_"

4) you have to click through them for the cookie to be set

info ive gathered

If you pop up one of the most annoying sites on the net, it makes it easier to sell your other ads.

Let me repeat what I said. Popunders do not place affiliate cookies unless the visitor clicks the ad. (additional information: cookies that may be placed in popunders are for internal tracking and user behavior based optimization and/or pop restriction - example: set creative to pop only once per every 24 hours and so on)

There is no conspiracy, popunders still work as an effective marketing tool. If you come across sites that keep using them that means one thing - It is working and converting.

If I was given the following two options to choose from...

a. Spend time on constructing conspiracy theories on message boards
b. Give AWE's products a try, see how they convert, work with our account managers, all of whom are here to help with the optimization process, etc. THEN arrive at a conclusion.
- Things going well, AWE seems to be the right match for my traffic? Great. Increase traffic, earn more.
- Not working so well? Try additional optimization, talk to our account managers, try new marketing angles or move on.

...the choice would seem pretty obvious to me.
