:stoned An idea for a INDUSTRY PEOPLE ONLY section on GFY

Anyone can say they are part of this industry, and get an account here. It's so easy, this place is now overridden with surfers and idiots who are nothing to do with it.

I reckon 85% of people on here wouldn't pass the following.

How about setting up a section which is for verified people only.

They have to meet certain criteria to be able to post in there:

a) send an email from the adult business related company they are with, [email protected] for example.

b) post recent (last year or so, to prevent old has-beens hanging around) screenshots of earnings from a program they promote, which would then be verified by the sponsor.

Then some actual business would be done here again, like the old days. The rest can play in the troll's rat nest which currently exists in "Fucking Around and Program Discussion".

I avoid your threads, in fact I thought you never made any new ones, instead choosing to try and belittle everyone else at ever opportunity. Did you not get much love from your father as a child?

All you seem to enjoy doing is trolling people, which in my book means paying any attention to anything you say is totally and utterly pointless.

Once people think you're a useless troll, you get blanked at every turn. I guess that must really hurt your ego now.

True Roald. You occasionally pick up some good people / products to push on here though, even now. How's vsex doing for you? I have a ton of signups already

I thought this board was for adult webmasters, so why a separate section?
first rule. at least they must be able to post pics from a server they own / rent

Take a look at the latest 50 posts. This board has turned cannibalistic, people are knocking other members at any opportunity, there are very few helpful posts anymore. It has become bitter and vindictive, which is a real shame.

I remember coming here in 2002 and thought it was an oasis for webmasters like myself looking for new programs, advice and so on.

This industry is in crisis, this is the only board worth visiting any more in adult, and most of the people who post in here contribute nothing. Let them play in this forum section, but people who are seriously looking for sponsors or advice on another matter, how about a section which is clean and the assholes are kept out?

Impossible I know, but even this board is dying a death, something has to change for the better or it's game over

Breaking character from my 'i like poo' persona.

There has been talk of a more serious section for ages, and in truth, I have always though, 'No point - It would never work'

However, with the adapt or die matra in mind, I dont think it would be an entirely bad idea for 2011.

I would probably make more serious posts, if I thought that I was actually talking to my peers...

You see, heres a little about me. I have been in adult since well before the web, and have been online since it started. I made serious bank in the glory days, but now, like many others, have had to adapt...

How did I adapt? Well, I semi retired, and now just have my own micro niche site, that I promote myself. I dont have affiliates, and I dont need them. I dont have huge traffic, but I dont need huge traffic as most of my surfers buy.

I have scaled down and become extremely independent, but its still a lot of work. Build and update the site, shoot content, edit content, add content etc etc...

But on GFY, I just post nonsense.

Why? Because I feel that a lot of people are not in the biz anyway, over and above perhaps making a few posts o a free blog host or something like that. So why indulge and interact with them?

But if there was a section, that was more moderated, and people had passed some kinda critera to get in to it, then it would actually be of use. Especially in 2011

But anyway, Im rambling... Thats enough from me...

Normal service will be resumed asap.

i like poo

The only difference between GFY today and years ago - is today it has way less fucking around... far less bashing, pissing matches, yelling, hating and crazy characters blowing every thread out.

Ratio of people visiting & posting - gfy probably has more business threads today than it did 10 years ago. Unless you count spam me with threads as business....

Other boards have tried it and it never lasts. When JBM opened there was a similar section and it was actually pretty good but even they killed it eventually.

there is a simple solution,

to become a "verified" member of gfy you have to put a file on your server( more or less like google verification )
Add a icon next to the members name to see if he is verified. Next add a option to gfy to ignore all the NOT verified members.

True dat.

There are as many assholes who are still in this business, as not. So I am not sure what you are looking to accomplish to be honest. I know Robbie would love this idea, and I can't say I am against it. But in the end, with this industry hurting and few shooting new content, having money to invest, or caught up in 18+ months of nose dive I am not sure what you would be looking to accomplish.

People in this business can troll you just as easily as those who are not.

That is not all bad. However, I agree that they could do a number of things to change how the board is run if you honestly wanted to make it all about real webmasters, and raise the bar.

A private paid section and some verification steps would imo do the trick. Being paid, it'll also give moderators the motivation and why not, with the rest of the money, there could be some investments in site features / tools for webmasters.

When I first came to GFY I was all eager and "I'm a Newbie! Hello! Help me please?" but soon realized that a public message board is not the place to do any "serious bidniss". So what is GFY "good for" then?

Finding out what's happening in "the Industry"; ePassports, Webmaster Checks, iBill, on and on...

MAKING CONTACTS.
Anyone who is on this board has TWO personas: GFY-mode and who they actually are in "real" life. So I come here to make contacts then take my "serious bidniss" aspiratins OFF board. If a GFY-er IS a serious Industry person then they will discuss things offline with you (if you have something to offer, which I do).

Summation: Adjust your expectations regarding GFY and all will be fine.

Wouldn't it be a lot nicer if you could have a public discussion with many people at one time. A place where many minds came together to create ideas or solve problems. A place where those that might not have something to contribute but could follow a thread and learn something from it.

I've often wondered who the other people are when a thread has only five people posting in it but 800 views. The ePassport drama had about 17,000 views. What keeps those people from contributing?

I think the mods have taken a step in the right direction with a few new rules aimed at making the board a bit more civilized which in turn makes it more comfortable for those that don't want to deal with the BS.

The rest can play in the troll's rat nest which currently exists in "Fucking Around and Program Discussion".

so you would exclude all the models, designers, shooters, and cam girls, programmers and toy makers and dvd distributers and ALL the various other players in adult because they don't have a "program" they "promote" from a verified "sponsor" and you would have THE MOST BORING section of GFY that no one would be looking at...

sorry pal - I don't fit into your rediculously narrow idea of what you think an industry insider is - some of us are actually out finding and shooting models and doing all the other various jobs that allow you fat lazy slobs (many, not all) to bang your keyboards and make money and rage at the injustice of having to read various viewpoints expressed on your precious blog.

now GO FUCK YOURSELF YOU CRYBABY LITTLE GIRL

PS - YOUR business - you keyboard kings - is the SINGLE EASIEST business in the world to get into - in less than an hour - for about 25 bucks I could have an Indian designer make me a link site and be signing up to "sponsors" and qualify under your cool new rules to be a BIG SHOT GFY WEBMASTER!!! - get a fucking life

So no new members would never qualify? This is my 1st day of posting, my 1st month of being approved on GFY. I have a few main-stream sites and am now trying Adult. At this point all I have are a few registered domains. My goal here, is help start my Adult business and hopefully avoid the scams. Since I haven't signed up with any networks, how could I pass your test? My first goal here is to find networks I can sign up. It's kind of like the old saying "you can't get a loan unless you can prove you don't need the loan."
So far, I've been just reading the posts, trying to get a feel before asking the help I need. I do realize there is a lot of non-adult business posts here. Isn't that more the problem?
I came here as I thought I would come here for insight, before making major mistakes. Not to be told I was unwelcome, because I couldn't prove I had X amount of experience.

Good luck with that. Let me know how much "help" you get here on GFY.

In the meantime. There IS an Industry People Only forum already. It's over at XBiz.

Slutboat, you're a fucking moron. At what point did I say or even imply: "exclude all the models, designers, shooters, and cam girls, programmers and toy makers and dvd distributers and ALL the various other players"? They would all have valid email addresses on domains related to the industry. You really are thick.

You are welcome here Newbie - unless, of course, you're a Banned For Life/Fake Nick mama's basement-dwellin' TROLL cum on back (ewww) to spew (ewww) shite on a board that's kicked your ass off already. Then, you know...

Otherwise: how can I help you?

???
I came here to
1 - find someone to make some banners for my non-adult sites & my new adult domains.
2- improve my terrible non-adult websites & the pages for the adult domains I just set up.
3- Ways to get traffic to all my sites as my non-adult sites get damn little traffic.
4- get networks to sign me on, despite I was not already a huge site with mega traffic.
5- A new hosting site as & now I discover the hosting site I have been using will cut me off if my traffic gets over a few hundred unique visitors a day.
6- I didn't come here to troll. I came here to learn. I just saw this posting & it struck me as "FUCK NEWBIES."

If you have some help for me fine. Otherwise slam those trolls and leave me alone. I sure won't be posting to "What did you get for Xmas," as some posts here are about.

there's business & knowledge here you just have to sift it out

i pretty much learned everything about adult from GFY, directly and indirectly, over the years by watching threads turn to piss matches and then little nuggets of knowledge would come out.

NO ONE here likes to give away what is making them money. an 'industry only' section would probably be even less useful

lurker 4 life

heh - the overly-long rsponse is proof of trolldom so bye-bye "dude" (?).

UNLESS you're legit: then you can find the answers you seek on GFY without posting. See how confusing it all is? Huh???

Carry on.
