Umm.... no he didn't say that. If you want to put that in relation to his healthcare bill, then yes he did say his healthcare bill wouldn't make rates go up, which was correct. It's also not Obama's fault the rates increased pretty much every year for the past 25 years.

Rates down? Naa.. The Right wingers would never let the Gov/Fed errrr Obama, actually "take over" the healthcare Industry, which would be required to reduce the costs.

You do get more rebates (in some situations), which could drop your overall paid rate. And if you're older, some plans did get adjusted and costs reduced or if you're below 26 - being on your parents plan is much cheaper than a single plan for yourself.

I believe they are going up the way they are because the insurance companies want to raise it while they can before the healthcare law that over 200 companies and unions got waivers from goes into effect

Well...soon you will be FORCED to buy it again. This whole thing is sickening to me. It's the COST of health care that needs to come down. We shouldn't NEED insurance to go to the doctor. We should only need it for catastrophic care.

The only REAL solution is to starve the beast.

When you get angry enough to actually DO something, the thing to do is to drop your health insurance completely.

Health insurance, for profit, is the BIGGEST scam that ever was.

Now those very companies that we all hate are funding the GOP like never before, all in hopes of reversing the small gains Obama HAS been able to make.

In some unusual circumstances: <26 years old, making less than $20k year or whatever, you do indeed gain from the health care bill, everyone else on the other hand is getting fucked...
who is at fault isn't really relevant, but the fact is that I'm worse off now and I'm sure so are you because of this new bill...

Health insurance rates increase on an average of close to 10% a year. The new health care plan is not going to change that I don't believe. Your best bet is with a high-deductible plan in my opinion. Basically then you are self-insuring the smaller stuff and can try and shop around and negotiate the best deals.

Hank,
Do you know how much your insurance has went up every, if it did?
Would be nice to see how much insurance rates have went up each year, to see if it has jumped in % or not.

Sometimes I wonder if it is even worth paying it? Hank said he pays 18K a year, then do you have deductibles, and co pays and then is that covered 100% if not, geez..

One thing I find interesting, who is making the money?
Insurance rates go up, but docs say they are making less..

They are going to go up... and starting this year, they will go up a set amount that you can actually budget off of. It's not Obama's healthcare plan that increased last year or just recently or next year's costs. What's currently happening is a stop to major rate increases, so you and the rest of the Country can budget around the costs - rather than never knowing.

The Company waivers are very logical. These Companies/Unions of spent millions if not hundreds of millions fighting for the exact benefits they have/wanted at the exact costs they wanted - to a point that the Company and People aren't being killed.

Logically the Fed and Obama aren't going want to fight with 200+ Companies that have been fighting for what they have for years.

Are you sure you have the right policy that fits your situation?

Do you or your family members go to the hospital a lot? If you are self employed are you aware of the higher deductible, lower prem but send the different to a health savings account, which you get to have a nice tax write off at the end of the year.

No income requirement or job required to stay on the parents healthcare plan.

Other savings come from Insurance companies not being able to deny kids with a pre-existing illnesses. Which without question will save families money.

I'm not worse off by this bill... it hasn't done anything that is even possible to make anything worse off.

Is it really a good idea to have a bunch of 25/26 year olds still living at home, relying on mom and dad for everything?

What a bunch of pussies this country is going to turn out.

Well... yeah, as long as WE aren't paying for it, what do you care?

Income isn't going up... but the cost to rent, live, continues to increase, along with the cost of insurance... and let's not forget the sky rocketing costs of education and if we want to get technical, the largest demographics of jobless people are younger folks and those coming out of college - ie: people who need insurance but can't afford it.

Are you sure you have the right policy that fits your situation?

Do you or your family members go to the hospital a lot? If you are self employed are you aware of the higher deductible, lower prem but send the different to a health savings account, which you get to have a nice tax write off at the end of the year.
No we don't go to the hosp alot...but we are up in age and have pre-existing conditions and it makes it impossible to get the same coverage from anybody else any cheaper.

If I get lower prem and have to save to self insure...I'm not gaining anything. And yes I'm self employed and claim the tax deductions...but I don't like what's coming out my pocket right now

great, they will save money, but insurance companies will now take a loss on those clients, and guess where the $$ will come from to cover those losses? Increased rates for everyone else perhaps?

Can't blame them yet, the people voted them in and the new congress is just starting.

They have had NO power for 2 years and very little for 2 years before that, it was this healthcare issue that made people so pissed someone like Sharron Angle could almost take Harry Reid's spot.

I remember when the Clinton's fucked with healthcare, same thing happened, Healthcare insurance cost jumped.

What's entertaining is that the new congress will try to get rid of the new law and with all those senators that are up for re elections in 2012, they could get to the POTUS desk with it.

I don't think this it the GOP's fault, I think it's the way the democrats got the job done, if they had worked with the GOP and got some common ground, which I know is a long shot, then the bill would have been accepted by the people better and last November would have been a different story

think about that

On adults under 26, most that are healthy? If they don't cost them money when they're 15, 18, etc.. it isn't going to cost them more than they're 25.

They can now only increase your rates max 10%, starting this year IF it increases for you.. something you can budget off of. Unlike the OP, which increased 15%.

The Healthcare bill didn't get Americans going... it got a small, active, group that normally votes heavy in the midterms to vote - in general, using fear & lies to promote an false agenda.

The current healthcare bill is FULL, packed... with Republican Ideas, it's no where close to what it was originally and recently it has changed even more. Hell, the majority of the bill is a Copy of what Reagan wanted....

It would have been accepted better if the Right/Media/Tea Party didn't spew pure all out lies about it, over and over and over again.

Rates are going up because costs are going up. The insurance company profits remain at 3% if I'm not mistaken.

Lawyers take a million from the insurance companies every time a doctor makes a mistake.
