What's the Most You've Lost Gambling?

So two days ago I played some limit hold em poker ($20-$40) and won $2,100 bucks in about 4 hours. Was a good hit.

The next day, playing the same game, I lost $2K lol. I believe that is the second worst day I've ever had. I should have left when I was down $1,200, but like an addict, I chased losses.

So got me wondering about the fellow GFYers. What is the worst gambling session you've ever had?

My worst: Lost about $5K-$6K in vegas a few months ago (over a 4 day period). I was like a crack addict lol. 2 deck black jack at the Venetian and some other games. I thought I could "beat the game." It absolutely kicked my ass lol.

Let's hear your sob stories.

I lost a $100 chip while walking back to the condo last week. It was the only money I lost in Vegas that trip. I may have lost three hands of blackjack all week, and I lose a $100 chip walking down the street.

Also... how did he "convince" you? Did he actually convince you not to lose it? or did he insist you leave since you were taking them?

I almost never gamble, but once or twice a year we go to the Casino here in Montreal with a few hundred bucks. In our heads we called it "entertainment" so if we lose, we chalk it up to a night of fun. If we win of course, it's always alot more fun.

I remember being in vegas a few years ago at Internext and walking past a guy playing a machine. I remembered him because he was wearing a red cap and red jacket. After some late night party as I walked to my room at 4 or 5 am, this guy was still there, at the same machine.

It doesn't really matter much if he was winning or losing. I just felt bad for him wasting all that time of his life... sad.

yes it was very odd, about 5am in the morning, he was like "sir, you won a lot of money on what you sat down with, you should leave, seriously"

I never had a run like that, winning nearly every hand for about 4 hours straight. Drunk, stupid.

A buddy and i put 2k on black once in Vegas on one spin on roulette. We had already planned to rent Ferraris the next day with the winnings and cruise the strip! Lol! The alcoholic confidence was surging thru us lol!

Needless to say it didn't end well for us. But at the very least I can knock one thing off my bucket list ;-)

$5K on a sports bet where I hedged a bet by picking both sides locking in a profit or so I thought - there was only one outcome of the game that could fuck me and what do you know, it happened. it taught me a lesson, there's never a sure thing.

In a hand of poker: $576

The dealer was about 410lbs and a 115lbs Asian guy was sitting on the other side of him. I knew nobody had shit so I went all in on a $300 pot and that little fucker called. Had no idea he was sitting there.

Saw that happen twice with two different results. One guy hit big in craps, won about 10K then put it all on red and lost. Another guy won big on slot machine and got about 15K, he then put it all on the ODD bet slot on roulette and won. In the matter of about 10 minutes he took a $3 slot bet and turned it into 30K. I have no idea if he lost it after that or not.

Most I've ever lost from my own pocket would be a few hundred in a night. I've won up to around $1500 and lost it all back though. I just stay the fuck out of casinos now. The odds are always in their favor. When I do gamble now it's juts small house games and I don't really consider the loss of $20-50 to some friends for a few hours of entertainment a real loss.

Get boneprone in here. From some of his old threads, I'd have to say he's had single losses more than the total of everyone else in this thread...

Ive had a few $1k losses when I go to AC/Vegas... its not about losing the money, its that it happens so quickly

Last summer I was in AC. I normally take a few hundred with me to play at the craps tables but forgot to stop at the bank. Went to the ATM and my pos bank froze my card. Had to be on hold for over an hour to get it unlocked and happened again... about 2 hours later I FINALLY was able to get my money out, took $1200 and lost it in about 30 minutes at the table.

It was a mix between angry/rage bets and just being stupid... was ready to go home after that

Most I ever lost is about $700 I think. Not a serious gambler tho. A friend wanted to go to the new Casino that opened up for his birthday, so we all went, everyone won a few hundred but me, I lost $700. Ah well, just your luck on the night.

Billy Walters is the man

" Billy Walters, the famous Las Vegas gambler, was the subject of a 60 minutes special Sunday night.

Walters has won millions betting on sports teams and other groups in casinos around Las Vegas over the years. He has been the subject of numerous federal investigations due to his high winning percentage. Walters first became he subject of scrutiny in the 1980's as part of the infamous gambling league, the Computer Group. The group fed data into computers to help make predictions of sports outcomes.

The group was turned over to the federal authorities by Vegas bookmakers after making millions. Walters was indicted four times for winning more than luck would allow but the investigations proved he was operating within the law.

Walters says he began betting at pool halls when he was in his early teens. Around the age of 15, he began winning thousands of dollars playing pool.

The 64-year-old Vegas gambler has become so influential in betting that he is able to change the lines on a game based on his own bets."

I've only lost hard once... was roughly $10k in a night on blackjack. In a single hand, I've lost around $2500ish and probably around that in a progressive build up on craps - but I wasn't down after that crap out

I'm up overall with gambling, if you don't count slot machines and sport bets.

Biggest single bet win I've ever seen was $11k. A guy had covered #8 on roulette. It was his last bit of money, roughly $300 bucks - he had spent everything else, that night. It was crazy, the guy was shaking so bad he could hardly have a smoke....

Hate gambling since I keep thinking of better ways to spend the money - why not put that 2k to making blogs - better odds.

Or hearing of program owners who don't have enough money to keep an employee who may cost 1500 to 3k a month - then turn around and loose 10k on gambling? Seriously? Business before pleasure

I hate gambling too but lost probably 2k last time in vegas, I'd rather blow my money on booze and parties. Hell I spend more on a bar tab than I'm willing to gamble with ha.

I used to be into gambling, but I don't think I ever lost more than a couple thousand in one night.

That's the way i've always thought of it.
