I'm sorry, but if you had an employee that took that much time off, how would you react?

Get rid of the ones that don't want to work in favor of those that do

Please tell me where it makes sense to have unions bargaining with politicians for benefits then have those unions give money to those same politicians to keep getting elected? How can this be a good thing?

Yet he made more than the Mayor of the same city, more than the Police Chief.
That is pretty awfull...

They're among the seven bus drivers who made more than $100,000 last year thanks to a union contract that lets the most senior drivers who have the highest base salaries get first crack at overtime.

Yes, its called seniority. They put in the most time so they get first crack at OT, the best schedule, or at least the one they want. I work for a private union and thats they way it is.

This happens all the time even in non union jobs. Seniority rules and those with the most seniority often get first dibs on OT, shifts, vacation etc.

You used to be in a union, you know how this shit works.

Management pushes one way and the union pushes the other way.

Somewhere in the middle is what's fair.

Sometimes the bosses push labor past that line and other times the union pushes the bosses back over the line.

That's how the game is played and through most of our history it's worked out pretty damn well for everybody involved including the general public.

Take away collective bargaining and all the pushing will come from the likes of the new Teabagger governors.

The Wisconsin Governor has already gone on record as saying that this is all about smoothing the road for future take backs.

Now we all know that folks like The Demon get a raging hard on just thinking about such, but you strike me as being a little smarter than that.

Come on man, do you want to go back to the days when our kids were taught by losers too stupid or dysfunctional to get a decent paying job?

Or would you like to be "protected" by cops who have to moonlight or take bribes to pay the rent?

If Scott Walker and his fellow travelers have their way that's what's coming down the road.

The explosion of corporate take overs is here! Start reading the bills that the various States are passing. This has nothing to do with unions or budgets.... stop focusing on the twisted issues and actually go look at what these people are passing, read the bills people, they are packed with more nasty than any of us could handle.

We're being fed one huge line of bullshit to make us focus on total pointless matters, all so they can quickly and quietly, with no counter arguments, push through a legal corporate take over of entire Cities, Utilities, Public Services and even your Security.

This isn't a conspiracy theory, this is already happened in 5 or 6 States, it's law now! This is going down, NOW!

legis.wisconsin.gov/2011/data/JR1SB-11.pdf - Wisconsin Senate Bill 11

"the department may sell any state−owned heating, cooling, and power plant or may
contract with a private entity for the operation of any such plant, with or without
solicitation of bids, for any amount that the department determines to be in the best
interest of the state. Notwithstanding ss. 196.49 and 196.80, no approval or
certification of the public service commission is necessary for a public utility to
purchase, or contract for the operation of, such a plant, and any such purchase is
considered to be in the public interest
"

This is no joke people, every State doing this has this and far worse in it... READ the bills, ignore the crap being told to us, it's all B.S. from the so called left to the so called right, nobody is telling you the truth...

The truth is in the legislation being passed - READ THEM - Our country IS being taken away from us, and we just allowed it to legally happen.

I worked in the private sector in unions, elevator construction and teamsters. When we went into bargaining, the boss's did so with the best interest of their company, in public unions, the Boss's are doing it for the best interest of themselves. They give better benefits to the workers, then the unions support their re-election, giving to the democratic party.

It's got crazy when a Bus Driver in Madison is the highest paid public employee, above the Mayor and the Police Chief because of the overtime he gets when others don't feel they have to show up to work, maxing out their sick days and taking unpaid days, costing the state more money.

You ask would I rather have police that took bribes, no, but I also want police that show up for work.

The Demon is very right wing, I'm not, I point out the flaws in the lefts approach, because it's not working, believe me , when the right that just got in power starts fucking up, I will be against them just as much.

The liberals on this board look at Reagan and compare him to Barry saying it was just as bad and it took just as long to fix the economy, thing is, Barry is doing the exact opposite of what Reagan did, that's what scares me.

Liberal politicians are like all politicians, they want to get re-elected and to do that, they have to play to their money base, which is the unions, the unions get what they want by getting outrageous contracts, like free Viagra and the liberal politicians getting the financial and voting backing of the unions.

This is complete out of sync with the private sector and with the high unemployment , less taxes are going to the government to pay for these union benefits.

The governor thinks he can hire 250,000 new public employee's by doing what he's doing, by cutting waste caused by these union benefits, I for one would rather have more people at work, than a bus driver getting 159k a year

The State was never hurt/hit or broke because of the Unions, it was the Eco fall of 07 that did it, very easy to research. Everything 'was fine' until after the States all over forced our Tax Dollars into that crap market that ended up sucking the nation dry.

Today this is not about Unions or a bullshit budget, it never has been. This is about Corporate take over and money. Now that Corps can give as much money as they want to politicians, they are.

He's being backed by the Koch brothers, openly... and some people still think this is about Unions.

The Bill didn't actually end collective bargaining, it restricted it, however he also took away pension on money already earned by people, something they already worked for and paid for.

The Unions had agreed to everything in the bill, then he pushed this shit in and created a shit storm. IE: He had everything taken care of that 'was budget related' then still shit on everyone.

It's illegal what they did.

The Bill limits the right to assemble, which is kinda against the Constitution, you know this part... "the right to peaceably assemble" ~ Firing a person because they protest you, is well a slap in every Americans face.

Just sad... so sad to watch the supporters of this action, do so with no actual understanding of what is really going on. Wake up... the media is twisting you to blame people and not focus on the truth or the real problem. It's happening, right in front of you - they admit it, and you still... don't believe it.

That's sad...
wow.
is that how the uneducated see this?

this law is being voted on in the assembly, the senate , and then signed by the governor.
its called democracy.

Speaking of uneducated, thanks for showing up.. prove anything I said wrong As of right now, you showing up proves I'm correct.

A democracy? Umm... sorry old chum, the people didn't vote this in, it's not any part a democracy, probably because we aren't a democracy.

And yes, we know it will go through the majority controlled process, and will be forced on the people. Not that any part of that makes any difference to what is actually being passed and forced onto the people.

The facts still remain, your elected officials are selling your States Tax Controlled Assets all the while you pretend to have a clue and support it.... Truly, your ignorance is blinding.

The tea party calls themselves tea baggers, even Fox has called them tea baggers "Neil Cavuto said, Score one for the Tea Baggers" - as one of many examples that have been said.

All I can say is good luck to Wisconsin in getting top tier teachers from out of state to come teach in Wisconsin and good luck keeping top-tier teachers from leaving. So if you live in Wisconsin and have kids going to school be prepared for a 3rd rate education. But hey at least you broke that evil union.
