I've lost 20 lbs since August by cutting back on animal products. Eating more fruits, veggies, grains and unprocessed food. I had a Wendys single w/cheese and a few fries today and 30 minutes after I ate it, I was drowsy and couldn't keep my eyes open. All I wanted to do was lay down and take a nap. When I eat "clean", I never get that feeling. Weird

When my dog got sick last year, I made him boiled chicken and rice for a week -- basically just bland food so his stomach wouldn't get upset.

I tasted it one day before serving him and didn't mind it so much. Started making it for myself, and ate nothing but the boiled chicken/rice, plus fruit and some green drink. I lost a few pound pretty quickly, and never felt better.

I'm a blob now, because I let myself go during winter, but I'm going to do the same thing again this year, starting tomorrow.

Drink this...it's so good for you. Tons of greens, plus some stuff you're not going to get from everyday meals.

I hear you. I've lost nearly 50 pounds now after switching to a differing veg lifestyle. I've been vegetarian for over 2 years now but managed to stay fat until I switched to eating a low carb diet, enjoying unsalted raw almonds/walnuts for small snacks, working out every morning, running every morning. It's gotten so wild my wife doesn't recognize me sometimes--I snuck up behind her at a grocery and she almost freaked out.

I hear you about the drowsy effect. When I used to eat meat, I get drowsy but also after only an hour or two I have to go to the bathroom. With veggies, I'm more regular and don't have irritable bowels.

Switching to veg isn't as hard as people say. Plus the will power being exercised can also be applied to differing areas in one's life (in my case, productivity and creative processes).

All foods can be counted in calories, although the foods are made up of different sources: protein, carbohydrates, fiber, etc.

Can't you enjoy a steak every once in a while? Seems like it would be better because you don't have it that often.
