Looking for advice: How to sell TOKENS / CREDITS to customers?

We are getting ready to replace E-Wallet Funding system (where customers fund their accounts via credit card) with a TOKEN / CREDIT system whereby customers purchase Tokens or credits to spend with chat models, and I could use some help. What is the best way to SELL this idea to end users?

For example: We can set the value of the tokens to any amount. For example, 1 Token for $1.00. If a customer spends $100.00, he has 100 tokens. If he wants to chat with a model and the cost is 5 tokens per minute, he knows he can chat for 20 minutes. So far, so good.

When I compare this to other point systems such Zellers card holder points for example, a small purchase is worth thousands of points. Very soon you have 500,000 points and you "feel" like you have alot to trade, until you discover that a pack of gum costs 50,000 points.

Does anyone have any insight to the psychology of token spending? For some reason I am having a really hard time grasping how it should be sold. If a customer thinks he has 100,000 tokens, he feels rich, and "feels" like he can easily afford the chat he wants to buy. However wouldn't this feeling disappear when he sees that a chat costs 5,000 tokens per minute?

Any advice is appreciated!

Open and complete transparency for me. X credits = the same in dollars.

No other way unless you want to confuse or mislead people as to how much you make from the transaction by using different vaues for a "credit" when communicating with a member and a performer (as I have seen some sites do).

With per minute I think the token system would thrive best at 1 token/1 minute compared to 500 tokens/1 minute they would be like " dang that is alot of tokens for a minute"

with the virtual currency being a "token" they wont look at is real money as they spend but they will notice the amount that they are giving out as it is a per minute basis so if they shell out 500 for a minute when they got say .. 10k tokens...that will look like a huge hit compared to if they had 10 tokens and just had to give out 1 for a minute

but i dont know a thing about cams

Use same token system as MFC... works for them.

Also easy to give away tokens as incentives and it will "seem" like a lot even though it may only be few dollars you are giving them.

Start with a reasonable amount, 50 tokens for around $35 then work up on bulk pricing. The way you display your tokens in design is a big plus also. Almost like a "choose your hosting package" you see on alot of mainstream sites. Small phrases like "most popular", "best value" etc. do well to help draw in users to certain packages.

also try different shades of colors for each token package. I prefer to sell them as a pre packaged item rather than individual tokens.

ImLive has 1 credit = $1...then they give away bonus "happy hour" credits depending on how many regular credits you buy.

No it's superfluous to make 1 token = $1

here's how it works.

100 TOKENS = $10

500 TOKENS = $40 [SAVE 20%!!!]

2000 TOKENS = $150 [SAVE 25%!!!]

E.g. Chat with UglyMOLe for only 20 TOKENS / MIN

I would say make the credits higher then the dollar amount, but nothing drastically. Like get 5 tokens per dollar or something.

Also as someone mentioned. incentives. buy 100 tokens get 10 free. Something like that. or make it the more you buy. the less you pay for the tokens.

its 20 dollars for 100 tokens
40 dollars for 220 tokens
60 dollars etc etc

We always use 1 credit = 1 unit of currency.

Then you can give higher credits for higher payments.

10=10

25=30

100=125

This system means that the customers can very easily determine that spending in larger amounts gives him better value for money.

However the biggest earner by far is the automated rebill.

Before his session starts you show him a page with a pre ticked box.

You tell him that unless he unticks the box you will automatically rebill when his credits get to a pre determined low point. When he reaches this low point you and he is still enjoying the company of his chosen ho, you hit his card for the same amount of his last purchase.

In our experience 47% leave the box ticked.

Chargebacks do not increase.

Indeed keep it simple and transparent would be my advise. If you want to create your own digital "valuta" keep it simple so your members, performers and studios can easily count.

When you would say that $1 = 1000 tokens and they would be in private with one of your models he is becoming stressed to see that his tokens are heavily counting down.

We use a 1 credit = 1 euro calculation in our system and with integrated web services from Yahoo we can always show the localization for customers in EU, GBP and USD.

For example:

Purchasing credits
Registered members can update their e-Wallets by purchasing the following credit packs:

25 credits
50 credits
100 credits (5 credits extra bonus)
150 credits (10 credits extra bonus)
250 credits (15 credits extra bonus)

Minute rates
Here you will find a summary of our minute rates (per minute) calculated in credits (where 1 credit equals 1 euro):

0.00 credits ? Free chat
2.49 credits ? Private chat
2.97 credits ? Private chat (2-way)
1.17 credits ? Private spy
1.98 credits ? Nude Hardcore chat
0.48 credits ? Playback recorded privates

Tips and Gifts rates
The average duration from a performance after receiving a tip is 60-90 seconds.
When a member sends a tip ?Play with pussy? the webcam performer is required to show your pussy in Free chat.

Note: After receiving a tip it will be displayed in your chat window in the ?Red? color.

20.00 credits ? 10 Minutes breaktime
05.00 credits ? 5 credit tip
05.00 credits ? Boob play
30.00 credits ? Champagne
05.00 credits ? Give a cold beer
02.00 credits ? Give a kiss
03.00 credits ? Give a Lollypop
06.00 credits ? Give a rose
25.00 credits ? Give a surprise box
12.00 credits ? Give chocolade
35.00 credits ? Give me a toy
02.00 credits ? Just a tip
40.00 credits ? Lingerie set
07.00 credits ? Play with your pussy
05.00 credits ? Show ass
02.00 credits ? Show belly
02.00 credits ? Show legs
02.00 credits ? Smoke a cigarette
05.00 credits ? Spank ass

Mark;

Our credits are sold in the local currency expressed as 1€ = 1 credit with the customer's internal balance expressed in either $USD or €. Being based in Rotterdam, Holland we deal with a large revenue share of Western European customers so the concept of € v. $ is a bit different.

Valuation of the "token" is always open to debate, e.g.; whether to sell tokens for 1/200 unit of currency or at 1:1 to the currency of reference. The philosophy is one of the customer being aware of the expense or that the customer needs to conceptualize new value i.e.; 10 tokens = 1 Currency Unit.

My own personal belief is that familiarity is the best path to take ... I think people like to understand what something is going to cost them in money terms. Most long term players in the cam industry have adopted this currency equalized approach. I suppose we pass many customers around, as buyers at one website or another, one thing to consider in customer acquisition is familiarity with a substantially important aspect to a buyer — cost.

Why can't girlfriends be like that?
