Update on HIV Outbreak

Does anyone know any more about last years HIV outbreak?

Los Angeles Porn Industry Stonewalls Health Investigators

In a report obtained by the newspaper, Dr. Francisco Meza says adult film companies refuse to cooperate with the investigation, and stage names for performers make it difficult to track down partners.

Adult film performer Derrick Burts came forward about his HIV diagnosis in October and says he had sex with 16 men and women.

HIV and AIDs are still an unsolved mystery.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear of more people contracting HIV, not because of him. But the fact that the majority of shoots are done with out condoms.

Of course there's no such thing as safe sex. STDs are rife in this industry... especially if your a meat bag.

A gay escort who was the boyfriend of a girl who was working on the straight side of the industry.

Dodged a bullet on that one.

he worked on the straight side of the industry as well... you can take that up with the agencies who knew full well what was going on and didn't have any issues with it...

I really can't figure out why you are so down on the industry in the valley DWB. AIM does a great job and the outbreaks all come from the gay/bisexual/black side of the industry, just like the numbers arcoss the board for 'citizens'.

if you want gay/bisexual/interacial porn to use condoms it is supported by the 'numbers' and then limit those performers to those areas. other than that we are doing the best we can... and BTW pretty sure the test out there in ladyboy land are only testing for the antibodies... not the HIV virus so the test you use are 2-3 weeks late.. sure don't hear you crying about that on here

I'm curious -- why are we now pigeonholing IR and the "black side" of the industry into high-risk gay/bi sex behavior?

I'm not convinced that AIDs has a preference when it comes to sexual orientation or crede. Most of the outbreaks I hear about - come from the straight crowd of participants.

Lets face it... if you're working in porn - you have to be prepared to contract STDs including HIV; in the extreme case.

I think the gay and bisexual industry is more high risk.

Scroll to the bottom. They do live shows (last one was a couple of weeks ago) and she worked 2 days last week in the Valley. She even brags about it on facebook.

Attempted murder. That's the story the media is after. The news angle is that he is a paid spokesperson for the Aids Healthcare Foundation. AHF pays his rent and AHF recently bailed her out of jail. AHF uses this guy as a pawn in their war against AIM.

They both still do privates and he fucks her on cam with zero protection and yet she worked twice last week under a new name and doesn't give a fuck. Everyone knows this.

Ticking timebomb...

This business kinda needed another wake up call. And this was it.

Yea AIM is not perfect, but it works. How well? Well enough.

You got to look at the performing side of this business like a "risky job" like being a coal miner, Ice Road trucker, crab fisherman, race car driver, etc. The risks with this job are well documented and very obvious. Good Talent know the risks and still get tested and still go to work regardless of the risks.

Then you have the few that take risk to a new higher level. Gay condom-less escorting and female condom-less escorting. These are the people who piss me off because they put the whole business at risk.

This Burts kid knew the health risks when he put a condom-less dick in his ass. What really gets me pissed is how he said; I didn't know the risks of not working without a condom could give me HIV."

Give this kid the "Darwin Award" for utter stupidity.

DWB, it could be better, yes we dodged a bullet and yes it will happen again and yes we will keep moving on as we always do. These incidences are like having a canary in a coal mine. There to always remind us of the possible dangers of what we do.

I highly doubt she is working in the Valley. Nobody would work with her and no agent would book her out or book people out to work with her. The risks are well known and too high. I live and work here, I hear everything. Thats something I would know the day it happened.

We heard that the 2 moved away. Will find out where today. Got me all curious now.

Its funny, because he takes it in the butt and he fucks her in the pussy, I'm curious if she will ever get HIV. I know that sounds ignorant, but with all of the documented cases of HIV in the adult industry all of the transfers were through Anal sex only. Not one documented case of HIV in the adult business was through vaginal sex.

Not saying it cant happen, but as what has been documented in the adult industry, it has not happened. That is one interesting fact that people forget.

The industry as a whole is irresponsible. It's as simple as that. If AIM or anyone else really cared, you would also have MANDATORY hepatitis testing, but you don't. You would test for herpes and HPV too, but you don't.

And no one has an answer for why they don't run those tests. Hepatitis can kill you too, but you only test for HIV. Why is that? Someone please explain that to me like I'm three years old, because I don't get it.

Wrap your noodle around this... we do more testing in Thailand than you do in porn valley, and we're not even trying to be responsible. How is that even possible?

I'm not going to sugar coat things and blow smoke for the sake of protecting a testing facility and making the industry look good. I call it like I see it, and when I'm doing better testing in a 3rd world shit hole than porn valley does, there is something seriously wrong about that.

It's also possible that her tests were false negatives. It happens. It's unlikely, but no test is 100% accurate.

If she doesn't have it yet, she will.

That's what I'm thinking.
Those that worked with them... although negative - may turn positive when they least expect it.

This is a ticking time bomb waiting to happen.

I think the main problem occurs from the pornstars thinking they are all it & putting it about in the nightclubs. Ive said it before, you dont see a workman taking his tools out unless hes working the job. A pornstar should keep it in his pants unless hes working

Hoping the situation sorts itself out & those working in the community manage to test negative.

reality check: read the stats on HIV Jim... you can be as politically correct as you would like to be however that won't change the facts/numbers on the high risk groups and population demographics

You are right we don't mandate testing for everything. And as a whole we are not responsible. Keep in mind as a whole we do not have the best and the brightest going into our business.

Because we on the production end of the industry are idiots as a whole.

Simple, because you as a 3rd world country (Thailand) are 10x's smarter than us in the production end of porn. Actually probably all of porn.

And I'm not going to be an idiot and argue from a very poor position and try to be right. No matter how good I am at arguing a position (and im good), I will not pretend that you are wrong and argue a point until it becomes right. You win

Now with the above being stated and me conceding defeat on all point that you brought up, I will say this;

AIM, even though it blows ass, it is all we got. Its not great, its not even secure but it helps lower the risk of transferring HIV. By what percentage? Don't know exactly.

Is it a preventative? No way. It just lowers the risks of catching the HIV, thats all. Its Just like having a life guard at a beach on a sunny day with big surf. You 100% don't want to drown at the beach? Don't go into the water. You want preventative with 100% effective rate, don't get into porn.

Once again you are probably right.

You are one of the few people i will agree with on just about everything.

On this subject, I do agree with you and you are dead right on everything you pointed out. But what you may not understand is that people here do have an underline understanding that they "will" contract Herpes and that is an acceptable risk that everyone takes. And, god forbid, people do understand that they have a remote chance of contacting HIV. These are common sense facts and risks that everyone in porn know and accept.

Not trying to justify anything, just pointing it out.

On the Hepatitis, everyone generally gets tested full panel every 6 month and people that do contract Hepatitis are weeded out of this industry quietly. And as for the herpes, call it your "stripes" and everyone seems to have their strips in this business.

I personally went into this business expecting to get herpes, chlamydia and Gonorrhea. ended up getting 2 of the 3. Just never caught herpes. Expected it and never got it.(Damn! No 'stripes" for me)

In conclusion: I know I work and swim in dirty and diseased waters. Thats the nature of my business and i deal with it daily. I have also not banged talent in 4 years and with all of the crossing over bullshit and no condoms, it makes it really easy to abstain.

I follow the current rules and work with in the rules. Can it be better? Of course it can. Will it get better? Doubt it. Will it detour people from getting into the adult business? Nope. And people dying in a coal mine doesn't detour people from becoming miners either.

You're not making sense today. You have an excellent reputation, shoot new girls for a large very established site. Super connected and in the know. If you don't know about this, how would you expect others to? How is a new girl from Type9, Foxxx, Metro etc, going to know? Is Talon going to walk if he sees a clean test from Talent Testing.. hell no.

Just because you don't know doesn't mean it isn't happening.

JustDave now understands the severity in all this.

As a whole, you are right. I don't fault the guys in the trenches like you or BM shooting the stuff, I fault the real movers and shakers of the industry. The ones who could make a difference, but choose not to. And many of them are extremely intelligent people.

Somewhere a group of people got together and decided that there will be mandatory testing for HIV, chlamydia and gonorrhea. Then they decided that everyone would use the PCR-DNA test. Sharon Mitchell didn't just strong arm everyone into this, it had to have been decided by a group at the upper end of the industry. And not one of them thought to mandatory test for hepatitis, even though B & C are transmitted sexually? At the very least, make sure all talent is vaccinated against Hep B. But they didn't. And they still don't.

What will it take, a Hepatitis C outbreak before they finally mandatory test for it?

Then it will be too late. Lives ruined, again. But it could have been avoided.

And the kicker is... no one is going to know if there is a Hep C outbreak, because no one tests for it! And Hep C will kill your ass, make no mistake about it.

And you are correct about the stripes. It's a given. However, don't you think new talent should be given a choice? Wouldn't you like to know if you're about to do a scene with someone who has herpes? I'd think that would be a professional courtesy. Then it's up to the talent if they want to expose themselves or not, assuming they did not already have it themselves.

You know, at the VERY least.... new talent should be made aware. So many new people to the business are clueless and can easily be misguided and pressured into scenes they may not want to do. They should at least be made aware of the risks involved of the tests that the industry doesn't do. If AIM wants to be the industry clinic, that's fine, then sit them down on their first visit and explain it all to them and make them aware of ALL the STDs and let them know the real deal. They don't do that. It would only take 2 extra minutes.

If I was about to slip my raw cock into a girl and she stopped me and said, "Ummm, I have herpes." I wouldn't continue. But if she didn't say anything, then I'd probably catch herpes. When that can be avoided, it should be.

I think the bottom line is, for all the effort all of you go through, and all the hard work and headache, to not take that extra step that could be a life saver (talking about Hep), is inexcusable.

I think that's a bargain really. They are silly to complain about it considering it may save their life. I pay for all of my models testing and chalk it up as part of the cost of doing business. Of course I don't shoot every day like you guys do, but even though I've slowed waaaay down, I still shoot 1 - 2 a week. Three if I am feeling up to it.

We can get both the ELISA and PCR-DNA, and any other test you'd need. The medical facilities here are quite amazing really. A lot of medical tourist here, where people come from other countries to get help here or have plastic surgery. We don't have the best looking ladyboys for nothing!

Thanks man, Chanel is great but haven't you heard? Regan went mainstream and has Chanel locked up with the same agent that made Morris the Cat huge. I'll make her bigger than Morris is what he said. Super excited!

You are right on everything. One thing you may not know is; AIM makes all new talent watch a video warning everyone about all of the possibilities of everything you can catch working in the adult industry. AIM also advises that all new talent to get a full panel to check for Hepatitis, herpes, etc and they also recommend various vaccines for various diseases.

To me, AIM is what you make of it. I got every vaccination and checked for everything I could as often as I could. And I was not even talent.

I have heard new talent complain about the video because it took too long. I asked what did you do during the video? "Played Angry Birds" Why? Because I already know everything.

Like I said we don't attract the best and the brightest to our industry.

Anything gabe100 says is dead on. Spoke to him on the phone. Knows what he is talking about and has some inside knowledge on this subject.

And we are in for more problems if certain things don't change.

Isn't it true that some STDs remain with you for life? Even after being treated?
And there's a high chance of passing it on?

It's really important that performers get tested frequently, because HIV and some other STDs don't show up on radar right away. And it could be weeks or months till is shows up as positive.

Correct me if I'm mistaken.
