Saw Thor last night

Overall was a good movie, they did most of it is a desert town, guess to keep the cost down, Acting was spot on, very over the top as you would expect the Thor character to be. Special effects were awesome, see it in 3D.

First big fight scene with Thor and the ice giants was perfect, he just kept kicking ass. I can't wait to see this all pull together in The Avengers

No Spoiler, but like the other marvel movies, stick around after the credits roll

I want to see it. They had a budget of $150 mil so i dont think they had to worry about keeping costs down.

I thought the 3D was lacking, kinda like it was an after thought...
At the very end the credits of the space thing, the 3D looked good.

Born Wild was awesome 3D

Saw the movie at a midnight showing Thursday night then again Friday night, I would have watched it one more time yesterday night but I made the mistake of staying home to watch the SyFy Thor movies (shudder cry shudder)

I LOVED the movie, however there were some things they fucked up in the movie I'll explain them here and TRY not to have any spoilers, but I honestly believe that if you're planning on seeing the movie you already KNOW about these things...

1) The way Odin "looses" his eye is total bullshit, in both the comics and the Norse mythos that happened VERY different.

2) The Origin of Loki is off (I won't say any more for spoilers sake)

3) The way the chars said various words (that changed each time they said them) was horrid, for example Loki is a juntan (or Jotunn) pronounced either Yawn-tin or jah-tin but in the movie they said it like yo-tin, ya-tin, ja-tin, ja-tan etc etc

Another example is Heimdallr (or) Heimdall The guardian of the rainbow bridge widely pronounced as hem-dale or him-dale, in the movie variations like high-doll, him-dell hoy-doll were used,

4) The lack of other gods/goddesses in Asgard. The ONLY gods/goddesses featured in the movie were Odin, Frigga (Odin's wife) Heimdall, Sif, Loki and Thor, The Warriors Three were a creation of Marvel and never appeared in the Norse texts. The lack of gods such as Baldur (Odin's son), Hoder the blind archer (Twin brother of Baldur / son of Odin) ALL of these were mainstays in the comics AND the Norse texts, and were part of the hierarchy of the gods.

5) The timeline was way off. This is sort of a staple with Marvel movies, for some reason Stan and co. LOVE to chop up the timeline and rearrange stuff as they see fit, any die hard X-Men fans know exactly what I'm talking about lol.

With Thor, ALL the events that took place in Asgard actually took place at diff times (with many many many years apart) in both the comics and the Norse texts I can't go into much details due to spoilers.

All in all even with my five 'gripes' I LOVED the movie, and I'm glad Stan and Co finally got it out there, and I can't wait for the next movie/s to come out!

And to anyone who reads this and thinks "get over it" or "It's JUST a comic book" allow me to say, Odin, Thor, Loki etc ALL come from their own religion, an old dying religion at best, but none the less Germanic Neopaganism has been around damn near forever, and has been known by many names, Odinist, Asturu, Forn Sed etc etc.

Stan Lee and Co, took likenesses and stories from the Norse texts and made them comic book heroes (Other then The Warriors Three) but sadly most people ONLY know of the comics.

Again Great flick, deff worth the watch!

I was rather disappointed with the movie, but I was never a fan of Thor in the comics either. I like how they are getting all the origins out of the way before Avengers though and cannot wait for that movie.

Chris Jericho playing Emo Thor on G4's AOTS is awesome though!

It was better than I thought it was going to be. The 3D like some others are saying was lacking. It felt like they added it in after the fact, like Tron. It adds a bit of depth to the landscape but if you see it in 2D you're not missing anything.

Honestly I thought it did a pretty good job. I'm not attached to Thor, the comics or the mythology, so to me it was a better ride than i expected. I would have liked to have seen them flesh out Natalie Portman's character a bit more but I guess you can only cram so much shit into a film, and they really did a good job covering a ton of bases and not making you feel rushed and not extending the movie's runtime passed it's comfort zone.

I rather enjoyed Thor as well... but I saw skip the 3d... there are NOT enough scenes in 3d to make it worth the extra money.

Fuck you Hollywood for creating this shitty-upsell.

It was entertaining 3d fun.

i enjoy 3d movies for example my bloody valentine was great, and rio was enjoyable in 3D

but wtf went wrong with the nintendo "3DS" i tried one today and its a joke.. you move a lever up and down to control the amount of 3D and it only skews the screen..

Thor.
all time favorite marvel hero.
they did a good enough job with the movie that i cant bitch.

why did all the norse gods have english accents though, except the one who had a japanese accent?

also, i get why they did away with all the "methinks thou dost underestimate me" kinda language from it, but it DOES kinda lose something when Thor just talks regular.

Kenneth Branagh said he didn't want them talking the way they should have because it was too "expected" so he wanted to go a different route.

Lame.
