.tv or hyphen .org domain
The domain I am after is taken xxxyyy.com.
Is it worth registering xxxyyy.tv or xxx-yyy.org or should I think of a new domain name, something like xxxyyyzzz.com? I will be designing the site to target search engin traffic with the keywords xxx yyy. Another thing to consider is brand recoginition. Will the serps or potential members be turned away by a .tv or hyphenated .org domain?

Is google likely to treat xxxyyyi.com as relevant when searching for xxx yyy ?

google has no problem with -
.tv is useless, it's like .cc, only click on one if you want to test your virus scanner.

xxx-yyy.org sounds good. I think they will not be turned away by a hyphenated .org domain. A .tv domain might turn them away. They would prefer .org, .net or .com.

I try not to get .net or .org if possible because i feel its too easy for the regular user to type in.com. It may not matter as much if the domains are for different things, but if xxxyyy.com and xxxyyy.net are both have a similar function or content, they may just stay at the first one they try, which in most cases is the .com.
I would suggest for you to check for expiring domain names. There may be a very good .com that someone has let go of and will be available in a day or two. I'm not a domain name pro or anything so I could be wrong, just sharing my view on it. Either way, I hope you end up with a great domain name. Best of luck. |
