I actually think .xxx would be a good idea IF it actually kept children from viewing porn.... but it won't. It is a money grab for greedy bastards and a way to censor online adult entertainment. .xxx will do far more harm to the industry than tubes.

Of course as soon as someone comes along and sets up tlds for things like .sex, .porn etc.... all this will become a non issue.

Correct, denial of such U.S. trademark applications fall under USC Title 15 § 1052. Trademarks registrable on principal register; concurrent registration.

Put together a group of like minded individuals and do it yourself. Pretty simple, no?

Just write ICM and put them on notice that if they sell your mark, you will sue for damages.
Not that many people in the adult industry have the balls to go through with that Rob

I also agree with you that the .xxx will be a fail and even more if Google goes along and handles it as a 2nd or 3rd level tld.
I'm still convinced that at one point in time all search engines will exclude .xxx domains or filter them out of strict and moderate search, while now with the filtering a lot of adult websites get through.
