Morality in Media Calls for Federal Investigation of ICM Registry and All Involved in XXX Domain

WASHINGTON, Aug. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- News that the first hard-core porn company is now in business on the XXX domain caused Morality in Media today to call for an investigation of ICM Registry, the company behind the XXX domain, for possible violations of federal laws prohibiting distribution of hard-core obscene Internet pornography.

"Further, Title 18 U. S. C. Section 2 prohibits aiding and abetting a federal crime and Title 18 U. S.C. 371 prohibits a conspiracy to commit a federal crime. The U.S. Attorney General, Eric Holder, should review the activities of ICM Registry in relation to these federal criminal laws immediately," said Trueman.

If Attorney General Holder won't investigate ICM Registry now, we will press the next attorney general to do so," said Trueman. "This issue will never go away for ICM Registry or for Internet pornographers who attempt to hide their criminal activities behind the .xxx domain."

Finally, a public organization coming out against ICM. Probably more will follow as we near .XXX launch date and afterwards. Hopefully much noise will be made on how the pornagraphic company ICM is trying to get trade mark holders into paying protection money, that have nothing to do with porn (their ridiculous greed will be our advantage). Also cant see most conservative senators in favor of mandate, to legitimize all pornography on the internet.

"Title 18 United States Code Sections 1462 and 1465 prohibit distribution of hard-core, obscene Internet pornography. Yet, isn't that the purpose of the XXX domain?" asked Patrick A. Trueman, President of Morality in Media and former chief of the U.S. Department of Justice Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Criminal Division in Washington, D.C.

Bullshit ...

§ 1462. Importation or transportation of obscene matters
Miller v. California, 413 U.S. 15 (1973)
Stanley v. Georgia, 394 U.S. 557 (1969)
Butler v. Michigan, 352 U. S. 380 (1957)
Total red herring.

That is their biggest threat and u know it. If .XXX is mandated it would be the first time pornography is legitimized in the United States. Which will be bad for them and bad for us. Why? Because a mandate will kick 80% of us (probably more) out of the business. .XXX is about a corporate take over of adult.

So if a bunch of religious weirdos want to stop the common .XXX cancer, then good! Who gives a shit what their reasons are.

As far as I know, I don't think I know you. Your comments in this thread are so absurd that I would be shocked to read anything stupider the whole rest of the month on GFY. Ok, maybe not too shocked. My 2 cents is this, 1st that afaik neither of the above mentioned people were ever by any stretch of the definition "behind" .XXX nor are they currently supportive or doing anything other than maybe accepting the current reality or things they can't effect change on. Next, the mere suggestion that this group who would like each and every one of us to be in prison because they contend we are currently breaking the law and engaging in criminal enterprise, racketeering and other unspeakable bad things is okay to get behind just because that also don't like .XXX.. come on, seriously? Ends doesn't justify the means if such success on their part were to invalidate our legitimate co-existence.

Baddog, why do you let those allegations fester when you can end them the easy way? You have already demonstrated against the .xxx domain. And you have already posted that you are against the .xxx domain and that you do not work for ICM registry. Simply repeating those statements you have already made would no doubt be a more effective way to end those allegations than what you are doing right now. Not everyone has read every post you have ever made on GFY so you cannot expect them to know your every opinion. One post, repeating what you have already said, would have done more good than accusing people of being n00bs.

There are so many hours in the day, what parting comment would be any more appropriate. He's already materially inaccurate stating that MojoHost does now or ever has supported .XXX. As an ISP we naturally route to all TLD's, no different than XO Communications, Level3 and every other network in the world.

The colorful commentary that he thinks I'm a "polished turd", that I should sling my "shit propaganda down the road" and that I make him "sick" is disappointing but ultimately doesn't matter. Everyone can decide such things for themselves.

Beyond that, I run a real business and am always effortful in publishing information when I see someone without all the facts or apparently a misunderstanding of them.

"Keyboard warriors" are a funny breed. I'd be just as happy to receive his call at the office or see him at a conference so that we could discuss the subject at hand with real conversation. Same goes for all of you - I'm happy to get anyone's call here.

He's been trollin full time on this site defending .XXX at all costs. Why would someone do that if they are not in cahoots with them?? The answer is obvious.

Brad 05-07-2011, 08:16 PM "I'm never anything but honest. I found out a week ago that a few .XXX domains already resolve to my IP space from a different, unrelated but observant client. I'm not happy that the TLD exists due to what we can imagine to be various far-reaching implications. With that said, as a host and ISP I have a legal set of obligations and fiduciary responsibility to our customers. If I deviate from those, we can neither protect ourselves or our customers from various different liabilities. We don't get paid by the domain, we refer out as a white label at cost plus less than $1 for other TLD registrations for client convenience. Hosting is not like being a biller, pay site, free site, advertising agency, etc. We have to play by a finite set of rules just like Comcast, Level3, Akamai, etc. Exercising personal judgement about something of this nature which does not knowingly involve violation of copyright, trademark, obscenity or unsolicited e-mail would expose us to specific liability so far reaching that we would have an inability to also protect every other customer on an array of issues unrelated and outside of .XXX.

Before the pundits of GFY decide to misread my post and falsely determine that my answer is either related to a financial motivation or something else libelous.. I encourage them to become familiar with the DMCA. Also, to look and see what their own host public statement is.. or all the other companies who actually have a choice.

One more thought for tonight before I put a movie on with Melissa. If you were either one of a 9 year customer or a new customer of my company with anywhere the range of 1 to 1000 .COMs (etc) and YOU decided to buy a .XXX domain to protect a trademark or brand. Or, maybe you buy some key word phrase for a new idea that isn't well represented in any other TLD.. Would it not be a total inconvenience to have to find hosting elsewhere - just one more damn expense versus free? If you put yourself in those shoes or if you are one of those old-timers that I host, you can see that you will continue to be in good hands".

Your words Brad. Right up your ass!

The religious nuts let me down. I had more *faith* in them that they would have organized and fought against .XXX BEFORE it was approved. They are way late to the game now.

Never heard a more out of touch with reality press release in my life.

Not everyone has read every post you have ever made on GFY so you cannot expect them to know your every opinion. One post, repeating what you have already said, would have done more good than accusing people of being n00bs.
i like baddog but i fear joan may have been spending time convincing him of what a good idea .xxx now is.

yeah they grumbled about it but did not do anything and was not horribly pro-active about it prior to it's approval.

I think the thing that a lot of people are missing is that I can call for a congressional investigation into .XXX if I wanted to. The only difference is if I 'demanded' it there would be no press coverage. This action means nothing, will accomplish nothing and only serves to line the pockets of Morality In Media's pockets with more donations

Do you want it to stay a Ma & Pa business?

Your post makes little sense.

There are laws in the US that protect freedom of speech and everytime they tried to legislate porn they ran slap bang into these laws.

You do realize that MIM is single-handedly responsible for the bulk of anti-XXX comments sent to ICANN during the public comment period. They are far better organized than the adult biz and fought against .XXX much harder than did this "industry."

They have been in the game all along and are the biggest threat to domestic adult today

Not once has she tried to convince me of that. She knows my stance and would not even bother.

You are missing the big picture.
We were speaking of their assertion of the legality of porn.
You are "preaching to the choir" on this.
We all know their tactics ...

If you had said "they are the biggest threat to the constitutional rights of porn publication" I would have agreed ...

But their legal position is that of morons ? proving out what they are ...
